I might be going. I'm not certain yet.
I've gone the past few years.

I'm driving down to the Anaheim show this weekend to meet up with some other BP.netters. So saving another weekend for Sac may be difficult for me. We'll see.

I was advised to watch who I buy from at this show; should I be more concerned than at other shows??

All the strict BP sellers are good. I haven't had issues in the past or noticed anything fishy.
Were you told who to watch for specifically?

Heather from Heather's Herps will be there. She is fantastic.

I cannot remember his name, but this one vendor comes down from Oregon or Washington. He has a very small booth with a handful of BPs and also sells aspen bedding, but he is extremely nice and honest.
We still don't know each others name, but we stop to talk to him each year. He is very friendly and enjoys talking about his snakes. If you're looking for a deal, he sells normal hets for normal price(~$20). So you might get a steal on a het.

GBU Enterprises will be there, and they have a variety of animals. They don't have the best quality BPs I've seen, but they're not horrible. They're better known for their other species in my opinion.
Sam and Naomi (the owners) and great. They are passionate about their animals and very knowledgeable.

Brian Gundy has always been there. You can't go wrong buying from him.

Those are the only BP sellers that are memorable to me. You can't go wrong buying from any of them.

Thanks for the list; no...I wasn't told who specifically. Skiploder just mentioned to be careful.

What about Invert vendors or colubrids??

    Re: Sacramento Reptile Expo
I'm not certain about inverts or colubrids. I'm not knowledgeable in them. But GBU sells and breeds them, and they're safe to buy from. I don't know who to watch out for in those areas.

East Bay Vivarium goes there. They good too, but expensive.

Oh! I do know one place to watch out for. Or at least be aware of them. The Serpentarium. I personally have only dealt with them once a few years ago and it wasn't bad. Though they had an entrance fee to go into their store/building thing, which was a little annoying. But I've heard negative things about them from others more recently.

PM me who you are planning on doing business with. Sam and Naomi with GBU are good folks and I would not hesitate to recommend that you do business with them.

There are, however, some well known scammers that attend this show.

Something you can always do ahead of any show is to check out the business on the BOI.........

I wasn't sure who I was going to be doing business with....I'm planning on only picking up a tarantula (we'll see how things go with my parents about that even).

I'll be sure to look at the vendor(s) with the tarantulas on the BOI though.

I had a quick supply question that thus nobody has been able to answer...
Is there a particular type of snake hook I should get?? I want to get one at the expo (as I know they'll have them there). I know there are tong type and "regular" hook type ones, so I'm not sure

    LadyOhh
    I will be there :)

    I am no scammer :)

:O I didn't see your pics! I must go find them immediately.

I actually became the unexpected owner of an amazing little Bearded Dragon days before the show. So instead of new additions (there were sooooo many that I loved there), I ended up coming home with all the necessary items for her, which was so fun to pick out.

Was it? It was definitely packed on Saturday, but not as badly as I thought it would be. I wondered if Sunday might be more so.

    Expensive hobby
Man I really wish I would have seen this thread before I went! Could have met up with some BP.netters on Sunday!

Anyone see me? Tall guy with a long goatee and a grey "Because Racecar" shirt with a dragster on it? Lol.

I picked out a beautiful female yellow anaconda from Shedskin. I would highly recommend them to anyone from the area. They were the ones with the big constrictors to take photos with. Oh and the "Serpentarium" is a pretty good place too. The admission fee goes toward any purchase at their store, and the place is more of a reptile museum rather than just a retail store, at least their Lodi location is like that.

How many people are local to the Central and Northern Ca crowd?

My local Herp society was also there, CVHS, right across from shedskin.

It actually wasn't as bad as it looked to get in. We arrived at 2ish an the line was movin really fast. But we ordered our tickets in advance, so we didn't have to worry about it.
