Heh, dont we all ;). Your looking at quite the pretty penny for one right now though.

These 2013 SD snows are 62.5% SD and 25% Dwarf. I'd guesstimate females reaching tops of 10ft if you dont pump them full of food constantly.

Ouch. See I like the Ivory and Purple Sunfire but I don't want to deal with anything that gets in the high teens.

Yeah I wouldn't recommend anything bigger then 10ft to someone who lives alone. Anything larger then 10ft, in my book, needs to be cared for by at least 2 people to be safe with it. And I personally won't be purchasing any females that get to be over 12ft or so to pair with my 50% Dwarf Purple Albino het gen stripe male. Definitely going to cross him into 50%+ SD blood.

Well normally I recommend anything over 6 for at least a second person to be in the house, though I base that more off certain species, though I normally like a second person around 8 myself because I'm pretty nifty so I could get out of a situation pretty quickly because I've been put in that situation before, but definitely around 10 would be ideal. Though I keep mouth wash in both rooms that have snakes as a precautionary measure.

Gorgeous snakes! That purple sunfire is my favorite. Those colors are just amazing.

I like too many of them to pick a favorite. The wife would flip out if I brought home something that gets that big. She would probably move out and then I would be alone hmmm... maybe I should buy one :D. Seriously great looking snakes.

Amazing animals!!! I love the colors and looks of these guys. Roughly how big (lenght and width) do male SDs get.

Depends on the percentage of SD blood but youd be suprised how little it takes to keep them small. I'd say a 50% SD male would expect to be 7-8ft max, pure (100%) SDs being 5-6ft. Pure SD females being 8-9ft.

5-6 ft sounds managable...what about thickness? Are we talking as thick as an adult ball or slimmer? Every video I see of retics they are constantly darting around, I assume this would be true for the SDs as well, do they every calm down or is this always going to be an active snake? I have a 5 year old son and I don't want to bring any snake into the house the he wouldn't be able to handle (with constant supervision of course)

At 5-6ft they are not much thicker then some large colubrids.

Yeah, all retics move a lot, the SDs are rumored to move more but I do not have any personal experience with them. Retics are a handful even at 2ft ;).

So maybe not the best for a kiddo then.

Thanks for all the compliments guys.

OctagonGecko729, thanks for answering the questions correctly for these guys.

Here is a quick rundown on general SD/Dwarf sizes:

The % of Dwarf and or SD that makes up the genetics and feeding regiment is a large factor for all the smaller sized bloodlines (Sd's and Dwarfs), with a good medium line feeding program (every 7-10 days) expect the following:

    50% and higher Dwarfs: Males 6'-9', females 8' - 12'
50% and higher SD's: Males 5'-8' and females 6'- 9' and they stay more slender than most python species also.

Most of my dwarf males are in the 7'-8' range and Dwarf females around 10-11'

Most of the SD breeder males are around 6' and females around 8-9'.

Go here for photos and info all my available Dwarfs and SD's: http://www.vitalexotics.com/reticulated-pythons/

Hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions.

Retics especially SD's and Dwarfs can make great pets for teens and adults, but I would not recommend them for any young children. They move a lot (which is why many people like them) and they can have a slightly more "edgy" personality when it comes to kids handling them.
