What is this, a massage? Affection? Dunno, but its cool!

Ok, the last time I held Pandora i put her around my neck for the first time she seems to do this rhythmic almost massage like movements from head to tall all around my neck. She's around my neck right now doing the same thing. Has anyone else experienced this before?

She's just hanging on and moving around - they crawl by contracting muscles on their bellies.

Yeah, I get that. This is different. She's crawled all around my neck several times and thats a different feeling. Its when she stops and just wiggles in one place, almost like she's snuggling real tight. It somewhat feels like one of those automated neck massager cuff thingies.

I get that too some of my snakes do this like they are showing affection like they are nuzzling

Watch out!! She's moving in for the kill ;) Lol I've had mine do the neck massage thing as well. To me, it seems like the ball python equivalent of a good stretch. They find something warm and squishy they like (ie your neck) and just go to town. I don't think they do it because they like us. It just feels good to them. Selfish turds.

It's funny you say that the original title had 'moving in for the kill' before I edited it. Wanted to avoid people stating the obvious. ;)

Seeee, I was thinking a little more along these lines. I wasn't literally thinking she was like 'Oh, I'm going to give him a massage.'

I knew she was doing something different. :)

It's cute when BPs do it, when my (currently 5ft) red tail does it it's a bit disconcerting. ;)

I've got her around my neck again, same thing, she must like when most of her body comes in contact with my skin just above my collar. Stayin' in one place, just rubbin' up on me. :rofl:

You know I've heard its kinda like when a dog goes to town on your leg... the snake is like aaay , how you doing???? Lol.

Petey has never done this for me, but Wafer has when he was younger and around 3-4 feet. Wafer is an albino black rat snake. For them I equate it to "running in place' while giving me a neck massage. :D

Mine has done this as well and it's awesome!! My BP's have done that massaging thing around my neck, arms, and wrists. I didn't know what to think at first, but I slowly realized that it was also a way for them to feel more secure while hanging on you. Also, I think they do that so they feel more comfortable moving around you, and yes, I'm sure they do it for themselves to, those greedy little buggers!
