Nevermind CG/Banana....I want this thing: http://www.worldofballpythons.com/morphs/radioactive/

Looks like no combos have been made yet. But even on its own that is just smokin' hot!

I can think of a lot of things I'd like to mix with this...especially something that would clean up the dirtiness. I can't see why you'd dismiss something before even seeing what it can do mixed with other mutations.

It looks like a dirtier version of Meowmeowkazoo's pastel. Interesting... Kind of pastel IMG-ish..

Looks like a really nice pastel. The fact that they call it dominant would mean to me that they have had a breedable female bred to a male for more than two years and never produced a super..which is an interesting concept..

I know the breeder of these things. They are pretty spiffy. I don't think as of yet they have a female up to breeding size so they cannot confirm dominant or co Dom. The import was a male. So as of right now it has at the very least been confirmed as genetic. The crazy thing about these is they come out looking like ugly pastels (orange and brown) then colour up like this. They are truly remarkable. Sort of like the anti pastel lol. They will be on display at the Epic Exotics booth at the CRBE next weekend for all you fellow Canadians to see. Check them out in person but bring your sunglasses :)

Apparently "not recessive" is good enough for some people.

    I like it.

As for being a "Dirty Pastel" ...nah, spottyness and noisey static looks neat I think...so long as it doesn't brown out and it stays yellow and black.

i like it. too bad wilbanks already snatched the name "nuclear." i think that would be a perfect name for a radioactive x fire combo. it'll be interesting to see what this gene does when mixed with other combos, especially "clean-up" and "highlighter" genes.

Especially since they have no other morphs. I'm sure he has other stuff to breed it to and could make multi-gene. I agree with you on this one.

Ok guys. Lets actually use are heads instead of pulling opinions out of thin air and here are the facts that I KNOW because, like I stated earlier, I KNOW the breeder personally.

-male import was brought into collection
    -male grows up
    -male breeds to normal female
    -male reproduces itself
    -only hatch one female
    -female growing up
-breeder wants to claim the name radioactive
-submits pics and info to WOBP

From the facts listed above, the morph can only be listed as dominant FOR NOW because 2 radioactives have not been bred yet due to female growing up. Info on WOBP can be changed. If this thing proves to have a super, I'm sure the breeder will report that and get it changed to co dominant.

I know for a fact that this breeder is breeding the radioactive to other morphs this year. There is a clutch due to hatch that all of you will want to know the outcome of this week. Because I'm not the owner or originator of this gene, I won't say what the pairings are. But you can take all of what I said as FACT. Not speculation. FACT.

Why do people always have to shoot stuff down when they don't know all the facts first? This is supposed to be a friendly place of helping others with the same interests. This place is rapidly turning into trollville with people just bashing others to make themselves feel superior. Case and point, the desert eggs thread. Grow up people.

    Thanks for the info Interloc.

I really don't why people say it looks like a pastel. It looks nothing like a pastel. I have never see a pastel that bright of a yellow ever. It also doesn't have the pastel pattern. And the blacks are black making it high contrast. And the speckling just makes it look even more like it just glows. Especially the yellow peaking the black.

I like it a lot. But that's just my taste I guess.

Interloc, can you request for baby and adult pictures of the pair? I think seeing how they age will affect peoples opinions as well. Especially if you say they color up to look this bright as *adults*. Is the photo on WOBP an adult or baby? Most people post pictures of babies so its a little unclear.

I don't know..... I thought the pastel I posted was pretty close to or is what you're describing. And that picture is not even done in high quality or a light tent. I bet that snake is just as bright and high contrast in proper lighting.

That is a superb pastel. But it still looks like a pastel. This doesn't to me. Honestly it looks like a combo instead of a single gene.

I will ask if I'm allowed to post a pic of the babies. The pic on WOBP is the adult male. Part of the craziness of this project is the crazy backwards way it colours up. So we are all used to pastels starting hawt then getting ugly. The radio active flips that on its ear. Starts meh turns awesome. When and if he gives me the go ahead I will post some baby pics to show this. That's all I can do for now as to not step on feet.

It was an import so my guess is it was a pastel (or something similar) that just had one of those weird stress sheds that changes its color a bit.

So what your saying mike is that the breeder has one snake that got brighter and called it a morph? Come on man.

Ok. More facts for the trolls. So he had this import male that me noticed kept getting brighter. Started taking pics of it monthly to document the colour change from hatchling to adult. He wanted to show everyone that this wasn't a fluke. EVERY SINGLE BABY that was the radioactive gene went through the exact same colour change.

But your right mike. Must've been only the one snake.

I haven't seen any baby pics yet, i'm just basing my GUESS/OPINION off of that first post. If you or the breeder post some more pics, my GUESS/OPINION could change. I didn't state anything as a fact. I'm not sure how sharing my opinion is trolling, thanks for resorting to name calling for no reason though.

EDIT: never mind, not worth it

    Play nice boys...

I am hoping Epic gives the go-ahead to post up the hatchling pics, as I am sure it will add subtext to the morph and give everyone a bit more to chew on prior to formulating opinions.

Great looking snake... Whether it's a new morph or "just" a Pastel, it is still smokin' hot!

Don't see where the comparisons to Banana & CG's apply though? Just a way to bring this morph down. But it's cool, can't wait to see more!

Looks like trash on its own, but new genes that don't look normal are good I guess.

I hope it proves out, because if it doesn't this guy'll be treated like the breeder who cried wolf.

    Everyone has their own tastes,

The gene already proved genetic and 1st gen offspring are already growing to adult size, and hopefully Epic Exotics will be aiming for a super not this season, but next.
There is also some combos under way, and probably the most important first combo you can think of.

The most interesting part of this gene for me (having seen the hatchlings and adults) is that like a Firefly, they get brighter with age and not duller; it really is like a pastel growing up in reverse.
I am not a huge fan of the graininess (peppering, flecking, granite) that the morph has, but who knows what that will contribute in combos, it may translate well.

I wasn't making a direct comparison. I just personally find this snake more visually appealing to me than the CG/Banana stuff (which as been all the rage for years now).

Then again, I hate mustard and mayo which are pretty popular. Only Ketchup for me on my burgers! :)

I saw this snake at the CRBE. It looked to be in the 400-500 gram range and I was not impressed.
It was kind of cool but not what I would call a stunner.
But, then I didn't know they were supposed to get better with age. Too bad I didn't see the sire as well.
The progression photos would be very helpful.

I think it looks great. Dark blacks and bright yellows although the flecking isn't a nice part. Add something to quiet the noise and keep the brightness and it will be stunning.
