Male Vs Female in breeding.
Hey guys, so I've been doing a lot of research on breeding and though I might get a pair of balls to breed. I already have balls and other herps. I have looked closely at a lot of morphs and decided I want to start with a Super pastel that I would pair with a Spider. My question is which one should be female and which one male? Would there be benefits to having a particular morph being a certain sex? Thank you in advanced- Ian

Economically, it makes more sense to pair genetically greater males with genetically lower females. In your case, this means that you'd pair your Super Pastel male with your Spider female.
Edit: Genetically, it doesn't matter one way or the other. You'd get the same clutch odds pairing a Spider male with a Super Pastel female.
Re: Male Vs Female in breeding.
Personally I'd be looking at a different male other than the super pastel - for example the pairing you've described will give u all pastels and bumblebees, whereas even if u swapped it round to a bumblebee male and a pastel female you could get the above plus a shot at a killerbee. Or there are other great combos you could put to a spider female like a lesser pastel to make queenbees... Obviously really depends on what you like and want to breed though!
One thing I would definitely consider is getting your female(s) first as these can take a looong time get up to size - I have a pastel het pied girl still stuck at the 1000g mark after getting her in 2010! That way you can hold out for the best male for the job (plus you can get breeding sized males a lot cheaper than females)

I thought super pastel x spider will give u
25% pastels
25% spider
25% super pastel
25% killerbee

To hit a Super Pastel or Killer Bee, both parents need to carry the Pastel gene. You won't get any spiders due to one of the parents being a Super Pastel.
Re: Male Vs Female in breeding.
Or in other words, 'supers' only pass on 1 of that specific gene, though all offspring are guaranteed to have it, so no normals...
Re: Male Vs Female in breeding.
I think a pastel spotnose is a very pretty combo that not a whole lot of people make. With a super pastel male / spotnose female you'd get 50% pastel spotnose, 50% pastel.
Find a combo you like and run with it:)
