Can popping wrong hurt the snake?
So I purchased a snake today, and it looks like it has something going on with its vent almost like an infection... the person is reputable so I'm not sure what to this at this moment... it just looks like its really swollen and also has like yellowish colour around it? should I let time tell or should I do something about it? i sent a text to the breeder just waiting on a response.

    Send a picture.

Popping wrong CAN hurt the snake. Especially if you use too much pressure.

I would notify breeder, which it sounds like you have. Take pictures to document. Maybe post us a pic for opinions as to whats going on. Potentially a vet trip.

    Couldn't it possibly happen though?

If someone applies pressure incorrectly and damages a hemipenes, that can certainly cause an infection. It'd be more difficult to do damage if it's a female though.

    X2

I personally think you can't damage the hemipenes from popping wrong. Maybe just leave the snake a little sore. They're built to come out like that naturally.

Brian Gundy seems to think so as well.

It is a female, she has been sitting for awhile now and seems way less swollen. put there is still yellow around it and its dried out, I took a picture but it will not show up proper from an iphone camera.

    Have you tried bathing her?
    I would try that.

Do you have a picture? Popping can be bad if the person doesn't know what they are doing and squeezes too hard, it could damage their organs. What substrate are you using? It's possible that some substrate got into the vent and caused infection.

Hi, I have them on paper towel, so no substrate. I just got them home and noticed. Whe we were at the expo, my father did notice that they were kind of agressive and doing it really hard. Ofcorse I did not check the snake until I got home. The snake did take a poop and it was really like pasty I guess I could say like it was scattered on the paper and still had hair in the poop... Anyways back to the vent, it's just really red/swollen and almost open looking not like hanging open but just a tad open I guess I could say lol, I ended up buying 2 snakes off them which both have the same problem.
