I will be looking to buy a dumeril Saturday. Had a few ?s before I buy.
Will a 28qt tab be good for her?
Can I put her in the same rack as my balls?
Any other things I should know?

A 28qt tub will be ok for a while if you buy a baby.
I keep mine in the same rack as balls, they do spend more time on the cool side though.
They get a lot bigger than balls. Eventually you will need a large boa enclosure 4'x2'x1'. Dums are great snakes, good luck.

Dumerils are awesome for sure!! They do get around 8ft as females and have bigger bodies than most boas out there. Some may say they are the ball equivalent in boas, temperament wise. They are also just down right beautiful snakes and if you have room for the larger enclosure get one!!!

I keep mine In the same rack I always keep her on the bery bottom though because that slow stays a bit cooler which works out perfect. They are great snakes. Every one I've met is puppy dog tame yet still a trash can for any left over food.

Way they said. I keep mine in the same rack as my bps, and mine is super calm, but a garbage disposal. When you first get one though they can be picky eaters. But once they get settled in, nomnomnomnom

Good thing about dumerils is that they grow slowly. Mine has been in her 41 qt for almost a year, and she will probably be good in there for at least another year. Then I'll move her up to her permanent home.

While this is all true and I just put my girl in a 41qt tub, just know you HAVE to have a bigger cage in the future, just make sure its planned for ahead of time!!!

Don't forget to QT her away from your others too, especially her coming from an expo. My BF started his in about a 28qt size and it worked great for him.

Are dums mostly terrestrial or arboreal?

    Dumeril's are ground boas.

I have mine in a 4x2x2 cage and she will need to move up. She will likely end up in a 6x2x2.

They like ambient much cooler than balls and you should aim for a hot spot of 85. Personally I would not keep a dumeril in a BP rack, because the temps are "okay" but not ideal

79-81 ambient is far too high for a Dum, IMO

Mine averages 74ish and she still spend a lot of time on the cool side. Her warm side temp is 84. I believe they really do need to be kept a lot cooler than some think

My dums does fine with the higher ambient temp and even stays on the warm side a good chunk of the time!
