    when to feed after shed
I feed mine the day he sheds. He's always more than eager to eat since I don't feed as he gets deeper into shed.

are there really any guidelines to feeding during shed? I feed mine if he's in shed or not, just sticking to his weekly schedule. I've heard some balls may not be interested, but if they are go for it. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I haven't noticed any health hazards for feeding during shed.

I feed mine in shed if they'll eat and it's feeding day. I've never had any shed problems. I've also fed fresh shed babies, but one thing to look for is to make sure he's had a clean shed. If he doesn't you can deal with that before you feed him and not after.

I don't feed during the shed cycle, but it's not harmful do to. I've heard lots of people doing it successfully. :)

I feed live, so at the risk of refusal and not wanting to house a filthy stinking rat (literally), I found it more successful to wait till after the shed.

I'm somewhat new to the hobby so take it for what its worth but I stick to my normal weekly schedule. I have never had a food refusal in the year I have had my little girl.

I own a rat as a pet.... he doesn't stink and I swear he's the cleanest out of all my critters lol

And so far Lex has not refused while in shed

Sorry no offense to rodent owners! :please:

To explain, I am not set up to house a rat. Thus, since I only hope to keep for one or two days , I place it in a bucket WITH food and water. The amount of excrement and smell in such a short time without bedding is quite odiferous!!!

A snake can actually cut off its own circulation if you feed too large of a meal during a shed and the shed gets stuck around its middle.

I personally don't feed in shed. Mine don't eat in shed anyway. And feeding a few days late or even a week later is no big deal.

Its less smelly if you have it on a substrate or even newspapers. And males will smell more than females.

I fed mine about 2 hrs after he was fully finished shedding and has been eating every 5 days since like usual

You can offer food while on shed. If you have a schedule and want to stick with it, you shouldn't have any issues.

I feed on a set schedule and I have tossed a rat in a tub while a snake was mid shed. The snake ate the rat with no issues, with a shed half way off. Once he was done eating he continued to shed the rest of the way. Normally I wouldn't offer a rat while in the middle of a shed, like what happened but I just wasn't paying attention at the moment and it was an ivory, so not very difficult to miss if your not thinking about it.

I don't offer once they're in blue, just because they never seem to eat. So if they're pink I'll offer but from when they start going into blue to when they shed I don't, and wait until the next scheduled feeding or the day they shed, depending on how they act or what I'm feeling like and what I have available.

I usually feed mine the day they finish shedding.

My lot usually save a poop for immediately after or during a shed, so they're usually crusing, looking for food the day of.

I feed mine a few days before his eyes get blue and then feed him again the day he sheds, after he fully shed. Maybe an hour or two later

I think no matter what this is just one of those things that everyone does differently at the end of the day really is what you as the owner feel comfortable doing just remember no matter what if you feed live to always monitor the feeding ESPECIALLY if your doing while your snake is in shed personally I feel if the snake will eat f/t or prekilled shed or not if they will eat that week ill feed them but for my picky girl who only eats live I won't feed her in shed because I don't feel comfortable wIth it but again just comes down to what your comfortable with

I don't feed during shed, but see no reason to wait once the shed is over.

I think it has more to do with their personality. My bp has never refused even when he was in blue stage. My corn refused when he was in the last stage.
