we got a MYSTERY clutch on our hands!!

Hello everyone,
here is the deal - i bred my supposedly "Super Butter" female (completely white snake with blue eyes) with ONLY my Lesser Enchi male
here is a picture of them breeding:

anyway the results were as follows - 3 white BELS (one of the had defected eyes - they seems to be smaller than normal) and 2 "butters" .. one of the butters looks like a normal butter to me, however the second one looks COMPLETELY different :O

so what on earth is going on here :S

I'd almost hazard a guess and say your super butter BEL is actually a Mojave x Butter/Lesser BEL and the other "butter" is really a Mojave.

Congrats on the clutch. Both of them looked to be Mojave to me. I would agree your BEL is not a Super Butter/Lesser but a Mojave X Butter/Lesser. The head isn't dark enough for Super Mojo. You may want to contact the breeder you acquired her from and see what they have on record. Cool babies just the same and at least you hit three BELs. Now the problem is what are the BELs? If you girl is Mojo Lesser?Butter then they could be either Super Butter/Lesser or Mojo X Butter/Lesser.

Plus how will you know if any of the bels also carry the enchi gene without breeding them out.

I can't tell you the whole clutch thing, but I will say congrats on the babies.

The super is a mojave butter/lesser, the only explanation possible unless there was a chance at retaining sperm from a previous pairing with a mojo

That second one does look like a mojave, it's possible that it could be a particularily dark butter, but from the picture it looks like a mojave to me which would make your white snake a butter x mojave BEL. It looks like you missed on the enchi gene unless one of the BELs you produced is carrying it.

could it be possible that it's not a mojave but a phantom? I already contacted the breeder i bought her from to see if he can explain this but he hasn't answered yet

I think if it were a phantom, your BEL would have a lot more pattern to it.

I can't see the picture of the sire very well on my phone but is it possible that he's actually a Mojave Enchi? Just a thought if you are 100% confident the female is a super butter because that is definitely a Mojave baby.

I'm seeing a Mojave, no question.

The second "butter" looks Mojave to me. :)
