Cleaning your ladies off after laying
What does everyone use for cleaning off their females after they lay?

What i did was have a different tub setup with newspaper and a different water dish and once i wrassled her off the eggs i just put her in the new tub. By the next day she was settled in and a week later she pounded a rat. :gj:

I throw em right in the shower and rinse them off, towel dry then wax... lol!!

All get a different tub and go into a different slot in the rack.

I use turtle wax. Works great.

But really, I've heard some people just switch tubs with the females and they do great. I've heard that "washing" off the female isn't as important with egg layers than with live bearers.

I stopped "washing" them down years ago and have never switched up tub slots. They all seem to return to normal and get right back to feeding in a day or two...

Yeah being egg layers I've heard BPs don't need to be treated any different.but I've heard that some it does help moving them to another tub to get them from the scent of their eggs. Guess you just gotta find out what your snake prefers best.

I just switched tubs, no washing of snakes or switching of slots.

Yeah, I switch tubs, that's it. If they made a mess, I'd clean them up. But they're usually pretty clean & dry when I find them on eggs.

I give her a wash in the sink and change out the mulch in her tub then just leave her alone for a while. She's usually back to normal in about a week.

I wash my females off, completely disinfect their tub (including the top of the ARS cage), put in a fresh water bowl in a new PVC coupler. Usually, the females eat the next day, though I've had some eat the same day as laying. It has worked for me and the wash gives me the opportunity to check out the female well to ensure there are no more eggs and that she is doing well.

^^ what Don said. I put about 3 inches of room temp to slightly warm water with a few drops of dish soap and wash her off, then into a new tub in a different slot in the rack. I like the opportunity to feel for extra eggs, vent issues, and just to see that she isn't acting deathly and still squirms when I throw her in some water.

I don't even switch tubs .. I clean the old one and the waterbowl with regular soap i use for cleaning hands, I wash off the female under regular pipe water and put her in the old tub (which is now clean) usually they start eating after about a week

I take the females off eggs and put them directly into a tub with warm water and betadine. Do they need it? No, not really. But just like some humans, snakes can tear a little bit or a lot depending on how large the eggs are. The betadine will help to clean and disinfect any wounds. Once I've put the eggs in the incubator and cleaned the tub I put the moms back in. The all slide into the tubs through a towel to dry them off.
