Over the past few weeks many reptiles have been seized by the government, as they were illegally housed in certain areas. I'm sure people all over North America would have accepted them with open arms. Instead of relocating them, the government had most of them killed.

My heart goes out to them.

Very sad, and the bad thing is they've evolved to live with us and they're a primitive species. We're so smart and educated that we haven't evolved enough to live with them when they were here first. It's not looking good for the human race.

Couldn't agree more. The 1 true flaw with democracy is that the many are not always as smart as the few.

Agreed, however I loved this reply:
Wow, the ignorance about snakes is incredibly high. Before you make a comment declaring snakes as "dangerous creatures" that are out to kill the "common man", why not take a few minutes to check out the vital statistics page of your country? Here in BC, over the past 30 years, snakes have only killed two people. Two... over a span of 30 years! Yet, on a yearly basis, horses kill over 40 people... yet horses are acceptable to own. Is it because they are considered "attractive"? How about dogs? There was an incident where a chihuahua killed a 3 month old baby recently. A chihuahua! Not a pit bull or rottweiler. The taco bell dog!
The TRUTH is that you are far more likely to die at the hands of your fellow "common man" than at the hands of ANY reptile! The TRUTH is that you are far more likely to die of an overdose than by your neighbours pet snake! The TRUTH is, because of an archaic superstition that says snakes are evil, the general public doesn't want to hear the truth about these animals. The general public, which includes most of you, are happy living in their ignorant worlds where they don't have to take the time to learn about these creatures.
BTW... MOST pet snakes are docile harmless creatures.
Regarding the snakes which were euthanized... it's a sad ending which could have been avoided if the breeder had been responsible enough to get permits for his animals. Let's put the blame on the person who is the REAL reason these animals are dead... the owner. He knew about the BC legislation which prohibited these animals, yet he chose to ignore it. Punish the owner, not the snakes!

There were 0 thumbs up and 1 thumbs down. Who in the heck could read this with an open mind and then vote thumbs down?! I have it a thumbs up to even it out. Idiots!
