Ugh :(
Lately it doesn't seem like it.
The thing I don't get is what did he do? Take it outside and then just leave it out there alone? I've taken Ella outside a few times but I never ever leave her out there by herself.

I'm in Philly. The coverage I saw on it seemed pretty fair, all things considered.
They said that it wasn't venomous, and hasn't been trouble for the owners- but that they can't guarantee how it'll react to strangers so please call 911 if you find it.
I personally think 911 is a bit of a stretch, but my parents were both LEOs so I might have more of an idea of what my options would be (non-emergency line, animal control...). That said, I'd rather anyone unfamiliar with snakes did call 911 than try to catch it themselves and get hurt and have the boa end up in the news a second time.

I live just south of PA and we've had unseasonably cool, dry weather for the last few days. The snake is probably holed up somewhere trying to stay warm.

Doesn't anything involving animals have incredibly frustrating owners? From keeping bettas and goldfish in itty bitty bowls, outdoor cats (my personal pet peeve), not neutered, barely socialized dogs who are allowed to roam free, horses kept as stallions when they shouldn't be, and then the unhandled horses who have never seen the inside of a barn, or have ground manner but 'ITS A GREAT PROSPECT' at 15 years old. When you get into animals of any kind, there's negligence and owners who want to make you beat your head against the wall.

I let my snakes outside to explore and get some sun, but always under very close supervision and interaction.
My 7ft girl loves to get out.
Btw I left a comment as a reply to one of the comments. This is getting so annoying with people sensationalizing everything.

This snake was found and is safely back at home! Saw it in the news this morning. :)
