purple snake

this is my second year hatching purple passions. this one by far has the deepest purple, it just left the egg this morning. I notice when it pipped, that the head was really dark. didn't open the egg up, but just waited for the passion to come out. I also posted pics of last years clutch. they are all RDR line of phantoms. let me know what you think. that's for looking! don

hmmmmm very interesting indeed

the only thing that comes to mind is super mojo phantom - that dark head is normal for a blue eye sm - hmmm what was the pairing?

I know that it's not supposed to be possible with purple passions, but who knows.. that super reduced pattern screams super to me.

it's from my RDR phantom to a Mojave, I only had one clutch last year and I'll have to check my records to see if this is from the other Mojave that wasn't from last year's breeding.

was this a different female than the othe clutches? if it was is the female darker? that would make sense to me that its deeper purpls we are getting into purple passions this year we have a light mojo female and a dark female mojo wondering what one will make darker passions my bet is on the dark mojo

yes, I looked at my breeding records on my clutches from phantom to mojaves. this is, this Mojave's first clutch of eggs. she looks just like my other Mojave, they both are the darker type of Mojave but nothing unusual. my incubator is very stable, and was a normal looking egg and nothing I can see that made this one darker. hopefully she gives me more dark ones next year as the phantom goes, I have 4 other passions that he sired and they aren't this dark. hopefully this one don't lighten up over the next couple of sheds. thanks, don

well, I'm more concerned with any Mojave females from this clutch. I pretty much know it wasn't from my phantom as this one came from a different Mojave female than the others he produced. it's still just a purple passion. it's just a little bit darker and that can be coming from her, or just a fluke, who knows. my pastel lesser het clown just shed out. wait until you see that!!!:gj: thanks for the nice post, don

around day 40 to 45 candle the eggs. the ones that are glowing pink are the purple passions. I usually start day 35, little easier as all are kind of pink and the ones that's not purple passions will get darker every day losing the pink up to somewhere around the 40 to 45 day mark.
you can do this with albino eggs too, but they turn dark faster around day 35, so you need to start candling them sooner. good luck don

I love solid colored snakes!!! Patterns are cool too but I'm a sucker for reduction and blushing to the point of near uniformity in most cases. At any rate what I'm trying to say is "Slither snakes Batman, that Purple Passion sure packs a punch!":rofl:

thanks, the purple passion is in a deep shed right now, can't wait to see it after the first shed, don

the purple passion just shed late last night, so I took some new shots of her today and I put the other passion from a different clutch that's a few weeks older in the photo. I used a flash that came with the canon t4i and when you're trying to capture how dark the purple actually is, it's hard to do. I hope with the other in the pic it helps. let me know what you think, being able to see 2 in the same photo. thanks again, don

I have been waiting to see an update and WOW she's still beautiful!!

Don I can't believe its held its color like that after shed. Simply breath taking man, it's almost like its a super purple bel. Look how solid it is and the color. All its honesty the cleanest and best looking passion I've seen.

I first seen it when I was on a bus coming from magic kingdom back to the resort in Disney and said holy hell out loud and my wife just looked at me weird. I showed her the pic and she said o that's nice. I then gave her my look of shame she said what?? I said that's the best passion I've seen and the guy who produced it is from pittsburgh....she then cheered for you. :gj:

It looks awesome. I bet many that shoot for a purple passion hope on one like this. Would love to see it's progress and easily can stand a new picture every month in this thread :-)

Hey Greg, I met Jim... I posted a add for rats on CLs and he replied to it and he signed Jim after his text. I just flat out asked him. Hey is this Sugar Shane on BP.net? He said yup, I was like its Brian. What's the chances. We BSed about snakes till we both caught wife agro.

I'll be down his house Thursday putting a down payment on a pied male and 2 het females. Not sure if he told you but the deal he have me I couldn't turn it down. I don't have the rack space atm so that's when he offered a payment plan. Pretty cool guy, I look forward to meeting every one else from our area on here.

Hi Brian, Jim did tell me about the pied male and het females. Myself and Jim are partners and started 412 Balls on FB. His wife Dawn razzes us all the time about our snake and rat talk. Maybe we'll catch you at the show. Don..not trying to hijack your thread :)
