Congrats. Be aware that she might get a little protective of those babies for the first couple of weeks. I use gloves when I have to get the mom or the babies out of the nest.

I have already held them and she's okay with it ha

i have a male and female rat together for breeding i dont know if she is pregnant but he has never been aggressive until last night and he will not let us near her, and she is breathing so hard? do the males get like this and do the females breathe hard in labor, if so i need to know asap so i can move her. any help would be great thanks

In my experience, the males will definitely get a little more protective and/or nippy when the female is pregnant. I always try to split them up before she delivers and the male seems to always chill out almost immediately. As to the rapid breathing, I have seen a few of our females in labor right before they give birth and some do look like they are breathing a little harder. Hope this helps, good luck!

You'd know if she was pregnant and going into labor. She should look like someone implanted a softball in her.

The behavior sounds right though. I would separate them at this point. The females go into heat ever 5 days, so after 10 days you should assume that she is either pregnant or your male is lazy.

her belly looks a lil puggy but the male has never been like this. he actually runs at the side of the cage that u r at now. its crazy lol but will def take u guys advice and seperate the female weighs 340 grams so i know she is big enough
