my ball looks like he is about to shed, his eyes are starting to get a little cloudy. last time he shed it didnt come off in one peice, i had to give him warm baths to help the skin come off. ive been misting the cage with warm water to make it more humid but what are some other ways to get the humidity up while they are shedding ?

Just give him a humid hide on the warm side of the tank (you may have to put him in so he knows it's there). If you have a screen top, then cover with damp towels. Also consider switching to a humidity loving substrate like bed-a-beast. With any of these methods (or use them all) you shouldn't have to mist.

LOL. I only use it for my kings (who don't need that type of humidity) right now. I'm guessing perhaps it wasn't dry enough before putting it in the cage?

Yeah, I'm drying it out by keeping my heat pads on high. I'm thinking aobut the bakeing hte stuff also.

Yeah, I might try that next time as well. Seems quicker - especially when it's raining outside and you can't sit it out to dry. I'm going to pick up some cheap cookie sheets just for the occasion.

Yeah, I should be working...but this is more fun!

We'll have a similiar collection if you get all those on your list. Great minds think alike. :)

just a ball python and other pets like fish ,dogs, hermit crabs, hamsters (vicious hamsters) and i am deciding between a bearded dragaon, leopard gecko or another snake like a corn.

How can a hamster be 'vicious'? They're just so cute!

I've been toying with the idea of getting hermit crabs myself

They look cute, but they crave blood. My brothers hamster used to bite the heck out of hands.

I guess looks can be deceiving.

Thought my fellow Mex Black King lovers would like this....
well when they were babies they were tame as tame can be but one day i stuck my hand in thier to pick it up and it bit me sooo hard  and ever since then they have been so mean to me ! i think they might have seen me feed mice to rocky maybe thats why they are so mad haha. Hermit crabs are great ! but u cant just have one, once u get one u need another then another and then another they are so addictive ! .they are super easy to care for. they can go months without eating but u should give them food on a daily basis even though they prolly wont eat much. if anybody has questions about hermit crabs u can ask me, i am very expiernced with them (ive had over 40) :D

Well, when my Kenyan Sand boa gets older I was thinking of either moving him into a 20long or into my rack. That would leave his 10 gallon empty. The only thing I could think of was possibly a hermit crab, but I wasn't sure if that tank size would be okay and how many I could house in that size tank.

a ten gallon tank should be fine for just one but he might be a little lonely  once i had five or 6 in a ten gallon they dont need TOO much room when i had 37 i kept them in a pretty big ruber maid that was wider than it was tall and that worked out fine . they love to climb and hide under things so put those little half logs in there, mine love them. any other questions feel free to ask :)

Here in the real world where averages arent confined to a forum, perfectly happy and well maintained snakes never shed in one piece and seem to go out of their way to do so. So dont sweat it,stay as close to the averages as you can and your snake will be just as Grand as any other .
Just watch for retained eye caps and make sure the entire shed is removed.

    Best Of Luck !
