Hey everyone, I just signed up. I am planning on getting a BP soon. I am first getting an enclosure ready thinking I might go for a tub enclosure because I do not want to use a glass tank since its not meant for snakes and I do not want to spend 400$ + on a professionally built enclosure.
I am looking to spend up too around 250-300$ for a BP what is a cool morph I can get for that price? This snake will be a pet and not for breeding purposes. I have always wanted a piebald however, I have not seen one for under 600$. =(
Can anyone recommend any breeders? Also, one thing I am not sure on is if I should feed my BP in his enclosure or in a separate box for a pet snake because I want to be able to handle him and I want him to be tame. thanks.

First off welcome. If you don't know about the different morphs go hit up worldofballpythons.com they have a great list of morphs there. Also feeding it in it's enclosure is fine just wait two days before handling it.

I'm fond of Mojaves and Pewters. Both of which 'should' be within your range.
As for your thoughts on a tank as an enclosure..... They make tanks SPECIFICALLY for snakes/reptiles. A lot of us use them when having a BP as a pet... it's more ascetically pleasing given they are so easy to decorate.

There are a lot of morphs for $400 or less. Since its just a pet see if you like a desert female.

Could you perhaps post any links to any? I have done hours of research on it but all the tanks i found made specifically for them cost upwards of 300+ $$$

Those look nice, on the morph list there are about 80 different kinds of desert morphs which one do you like in particular?

Honestly you can walk into a petsmart or petco and find a decent tank set up for a snake. Doesn't take that much money to establish a nice tank. You will need 'extra' stuff. I.e. Thermostat, better temp/humidity gauges. You will change a tank for a few weeks until it's where you want it. I simply do not see the sense in a rack for one or 2 snakes that you clearly intend to be pets.
This one however, I love!! <note to self, start xmas list!!>

Now.. breeders:

Beautiful snakes, decent pricing from what I have seen/heard and he has a very good rep. <I'll be picking up my first morph from him when I wear the man down enough. <Almost there.>

Right?! I was waiting to get one on Sale for my BP, and came across a vision cage for 100 so I got that, now I knida wish I would have waited. Nothing wrong with the Vision at all its a great cage I just think the APs look a little less industrial for a display tank. May need to get one for my corn though.

Tanks are nice for displaying the animal but a single tub can be bought foe a lot lessand much easier maintained. I have a tank now but when my girl outgrowa it ill be getting her a tub :) I'm partial to lessers, fires, mojaves, and pastels good luck n welcome!

x 2 (with the addition of a second light - one for each side of the divider)
Also, I've never seen the T8s NOT on sale. :) API is backed up though, so you'll want to email them (Ali - she's awesome) to get a clear idea on how long the build time is this time of the year.
This is exactly how I have my two T8s set up:

The most important piece of husbandry equipment you need is a thermostat (http://www.spyderrobotics.com/store/...products_id=26). All you need after that is a thermometer (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1), a pair of ceramic dishes (http://www.amazon.com/Ethical-3-Inch...all+crock+dish), and four hide boxes (http://www.reptilebasics.com/small-hide-box). Also, I prefer to use corrugated wrap for the bottom of the T8 (http://www.papermart.com/Product%20P...x?GroupID=4608). It makes clean up very easy (and trust me - there will be a lot of clean up).
Edit: Oh yeah - :welcome:
