This is my first attempt at a logo concept based on solid-colored BPs and the letter "S." I'm a freelance artist, but I've never tried to design a logo before. I'm used to painting realistic portraits, so keeping it simple was difficult!

Here's what I've got so far:

It's still pretty rough - I need to clean up the lines and adjust their widths in some places before I vectorize it. Which of the two shaded versions on the bottom works best? Do the shadows on the white snake make the design look too busy? Should I scrap it all and try something else entirely? Let me know what you think!

Its nice to see another artist on here haha i really like the second one with the white on top. definitely keep the shading on the white and maybe duplicate just a touch of the shading on your bottom white in option 1 to the black on bottom in option 2 (i hope that makes sense lol)

I like #2 best. I think the shading on that one is great, too.

Yep, gotcha. Good idea, thanks! :)

    Here's the current lineup:

I edited the middle ones per your suggestion, and threw in a couple colored versions that I don't really like. #5 is my favorite so far, I think!

I'd agree that 5 looks the best so far. I'd lighten it up a bit though, a couple shades.

i like five and six, but i don't think i would lighten anything up. if you really wanted you could do a few highlights but i wouldnt think its necessary.

I like it too, but am I supposed to see an "S" in it? I'm not seeing it.

This is what I was going for:

It's not super important that the "S" comes through, since I wanted it to be subtle and for the snakes to be in a natural position, but I wonder if it would read better if the top snake's tongue was out. As it stands, it looks more like a "J," doesn't it? Good thing my business name isn't set in stone - maybe I can work with that. ;)
