    Bad season, anyone else?
Didn't have many females this year and yet some flopped! Had a spider female drop 7 slugs and 1 egg with veins, don't expect it to go long term. If it does, the odds of hitting the morph are pretty much slim-to-none. Also had 2 pastel females that ovulated but never went :\.

Forgot to mention the spider also rolled all the eggs around the tub -.-

Anyone else having a bad season?

I breed pastel het clown to het clown. Witnessed locks all through november to april. Still no signs of building. Looks like she decided to take the year off.

If your pastels ovulated they will lay eggs/slugs. Are you sure they ovulated?

I breed 27 girls this year....17 clutches in the incubator, 1 female slugged out, and waiting on 3 to lay. 21 out of 27 is not a bad season at all.

7 girls bred and only got 3 slugs from a virgin girl.
A friend of mine bred 8 or 9 girls and only got one clutch of 7 slugs.

We all are feeling the pain and frustration right now.

Slow year (I still have girls ovulating when I am usually done), small clutches (but all viable eggs) so small healthy clutches is better then nothing.

are you sure it was a ovulation? sometimes they will swell before an ovulation. a few years ago I had 2 females that in june, they had around 35mm follicles using my friends ultrasound (before I purchase mine). they didn't lay until January (6 months later). whatever slow down their breeding cycle, did it to both of them. and if I remember correctly, they laid about a week apart. it was a hot summer, which if anything should of made them lay sooner instead of later.

a female can absorb follicles, if she ovulated then she has eggs that they don't absorb. keep an eye on her and good luck, don

    Bred 25 girls this year.
One died from egg bound, was not home.
20 clutches laid, 2 fully hatched, 18 cooking.
Waiting on last 4 to lay.
Could be 24/24 if luck holds out.:banana:
    Best year yet!!!

Last year, over 100 slugs and only 27 eggs.:rage::rolleye2:
Take the bad with the good. It will get better. :gj:

I can't complain about my bp season, 5 out of 8 possible females this year went for me. The only down side to that for me is my last three clutches are what should be my best ones and the first of those isn't due to hatch until daytona weekend...still though, I'll take late as being a whole lot better than nothing on the season!

Rainbow boas I'll go 3 for 3 on with two on the ground and the third not due to give birth until mid september.

Woma's I had 2 of 4 girls go and hatched 8 out of 16 eggs...only second year trying to hatch these and won't complain here either, much better than hatching 1 of 9 eggs a year ago!

Spotted pythons I had two girls go, one was a first time for her and she laid a large number of slugs...would have liked to have had more, but still happy with what I had this year.

Sand boa's look like the thing that could have really been better on. I only know for sure I'm getting one litter out of five adult females right now, although I've had quite a few late fall/early winter litters in the past, so there's still a good chance I may have more coming before the season is out.

I think our season will be good this year, just massively late. Our first clutch is due to hatch any day, and we still have females that are gravid. Usually we are midway thru hatching by now.

Well, we all have a crapshoot season every now and then. Either we don't get as many clutches as planned, or we get birth defects, or terrible odds, or not the sexes we were hoping for...

I was hoping for 13 clutches this season and it looks like I am getting 5.
That being said, I proved a dinker with one of those clutches and the dinker x normal pairing resulted in 6 genetic offspring and 1 normal.

Sometimes you lose in one way, and win in another!
There is always next season - remember that, and all is well.

It's a very slow/late year for me. I still have 1 or 2 more girls that might lay, but we'll see. I've also had very small clutches this year.

I find it really interesting that so many people are having late clutches or no clutches this year. I wonder what the cause is. And to see stuff like only 5/13 females laid eggs is pretty disheartening. I'd be crushed on my first breeding season if the axanthic girl I plan to have just didn't lay.

Hope you guys all have an awesome rest of this season and next to make up for this one.

I am not at all crushed,

The girls that did lay have given clutches of 7-8 healthy eggs, and a big healthy clutches are better than small ones or slugs.
I would rather females skip the season than give me a crappy clutch. Most of my girls went through a move mid season so I am not surprised that under half laid.

Every season is different, and girls that don't go this season will be that much more prepared for next season.

I've had about a dozen clutches so far but most have been small, 3 or 4 eggs. I actually had two 2 egg clutches this year.

We bred 34 girls and have had 25 or so clutches, averaging 8.1 eggs per clutch. It's been a great season and we are still getting eggs...YB Sugar X Pastel laid today.

I have had a poor season so far this year bred 7 females and had only one clutch a few of the females are still curling their bowls and showing other signs, so may have a few late clutches. On the good side the clutch i have had its 9 eggs savannah x pastel. Just need to hope i have good odds its on day 22 long way to go yet.

We bred 3 females all through winter, only one ovulation witnessed, and out of the three no eggs yet. My friend who also breeds probably bred at least 10 females, n got three clutches. One cinnamon female laid 4 slugs, one egg. I wonder if the weather has anything to do with it :p

This year seems the clutches are not meeting the odds for good combos when they hatch for me. I'm saying alot of "1 in 4 odds huh? this clutch doesn't understand math..." We'll see what the rest of the clutches bring... but I am getting a good amount of slugs and boob-eggs, not too high where I say something's up, but more than usual, but it cycles like that anyways; though there is always next year!

I always hit a point where I question if any took. This year was no exception: huge gap where 3 clutches came out and I thought all my big females didn't have anything in spite of feeling eggs when palpating... any chance your other eight are just making you anxious and being delayed?

I bred 26 females this year and will see around 7 clutches. One girl laid 10 slugs for me a couple weeks back.. Ouch! However, I did go through a move in August and bought a few proven breeder females in august as well so it isn't too surprising.

Hopefully next year will be better. :)
