The grass pics...
I see a lot of people post pics of their balls in the grass, how? Are they that slow that they could not escape your supervision?
I imagine if I did that with my corn he could "potentially" take off... Not that there's any grass in Arizona
-
Nope, mine are pretty alert when we go outside in the grass. They're really slow honestly.

Re: The grass pics...
I'm too paranoid about bugs and stuff. Mine don't go in the grass. :o

Well what are you gunna be doing to give them a chance to get away haha? If i take mine outside its only to take pics so im always right there. When you first put them down in the grass, it freaks them out a bit and they dont move much for a couple of seconds which is why, i think, they usually periscope lol.

Haha periscope, awesome description

Mine just slowly slither around in circles, no one tries to make a great escape.

Is there really little concern they could pick something up?

I have had ZERO issues taking grass pics. I think they can really help pop the color and the natural sunlight is great as well. Never an issue with bugs or attempted escapes. These guys are WAY more hardy than some give them credit for.

I don't worry about bugs because I spray my herps with some natural mite spray beforehand. While it wouldn't work very well to rid an infestation if your herps already had them, it does well enough to prevent them.
I think they like the opportunity to get out and explore.

Love the periscope pics!
Even my fastest moving snake can be caught up to with a normal walk haha. When I used to have cornsnakes they could move quicker but it still wasn't anything to worry about. Just keep an eye on them and you should have no problem

I live near a park, One of the few places I can find grass, is there anything illegal I'd have to worry about if I brought my snake there that you guys know about?

Illegal? Depends on your city's ordinances. I would avoid going on the afternoons or weekends, though, just because if there's kids around there are likely parents around to freak out. Try to go when there are few/no people around and if there are people, don't approach the person with your snake. If they approach and are curious then by all means, educate. The herp industry can use all the help it can get in that regard.

He was overweight in that pic. It was last summer. He lost most of the extra bulk during his winter brumation. :)

I want to get some grass pics of Ella one of these days. I'm probably going to wait for a day when I know my neighbor isn't home. She's terrified of snakes and would probably freak out if she saw her.
