A panda pied???? omg how amazing. I can only see the last pic also.

Is that the picture of the actual snake? Because I've seen that exact photo multiple times

So does your friend have an updated picture of the Panda Pied? Because this one is about 5 years old now and there are only a handful of people that have been producing them since (and I really mean handful) :confusd:

Plus how does someone who is 17, senior in high school

The comments in the quote "so I can buy some decent reptiles" and "I don't have a job". Doesn't have a job, somehow is saving for whatever is meant by 'decent' reptiles, I bent ones he cant properly care for.... The list of animals the OP already has is scary enough for someone without a job. Parents supporting maybe? Hopefully...

Words of wisdom, Deborah. I was too excited by the picture to realize I'd seen it about a million times. Maybe OP has some friends in high places :)

That's some serious savings if you can afford a panda for being a 17 yr old with no job. I know my boss has the 2 very first produced pandas and he's selling the male for 16k.

I am going to be a Apprentice for a breeder.
He is selling some Ball Pythons and I highly interested in going into the field of Reptile ad Exotic Vets. He is donating some small snakes and in a few months if he can produce a few Pandas or a few Black Pastel Het. Pieds. He could make an EXTREMELY good offer. I reckon I would have a job in a few months so I could have some spending money. I could drive to where he lives and help him in cleaning and housekeeping and husbandry. I highly doubt he would GIVE me a Panda Pied for real. But he would be willing to loan me the Black Pastel Het. Pieds he has so far so I can breed them and potentially gain experience in getting Panda Pieds.

Not to be negative Nacy or anything...but this has a lot of "ifs" in it. "IF he produces a few"...IF you get a job (which is a lot harder said than done. Took me over 6 months with 5 yrs experience to land my job paying minimum wage...)...IF he actually lets you come into his house and help with his snake keeping...and IF he would loan you a breeding pair.

Try not to get too excited unless this has all been planned out and you start work tomorrow. A lot of unexpected things can change your plans. Try not to get your hopes up.

This says your getting ball pythons next week. From him? How much did you pay for them? If you don't have a job and can't afford a rack...how can you care for these ball pythons?

I'm all about supporting a person's new hobby (lord knows my family doesn't support me and my reptiles), but it's really best if you can afford to keep your animals before you start adding reptiles to your collection. Just my two cents...

I probably wont be getting a Panda that one was a funny...
But I could possibly produce one or two if I play my cards right... Also I am in line for some jobs now. Applied at 5 places from vets to zoos to a pharmacy and yardworks. Don't hassle me about not being able to afford something. I can make money If needed I live in an area where all I gotta do is go to an elderly persons home and do yard work and make a few hundred in a week. LARGE YARDS-BIG PAY. I can afford a Panda Pied... Not only am I 17, I a smart one too. If I can persuade the breeder to let me help out that potentially I could try and get a panda pied.

You can afford a snake that costs over $15K?

If I had snakes valued at 16k I sure as hell wouldn't loan them out to anyone, no matter how well I knew them. That's too expensive of a gamble. I especially wouldn't lose out on that kind of revenue by loaning them out for chores and yard work.

I'm 21 and work two jobs. I could get that kind of money if I didn't spend money on anything else besides on what I exactly need (horse board, gas, car insurance.. not taking into account random expenses like fixing my car, vet bills, school books and supplies) in about two years. Unfortunately money is hard to come by and easy go. Once you get a job and start paying bills you'll realize it's not easy to save up. I've been saving for my motorcycle off and on for about 3 years. Random expenses and other wants keep getting in the way. I'm hoping to finally get it before Christmas, but that will pretty much clean me out. And the bike I want is only 3-4k. 16k, that's a whole LOT more and saving for that would be nuts with two a few bucks above minimum wage jobs.

He a private breeder I don't know him by name.
He is selling his collection and remodeling and buying different ones. Starting over I gues. I more than likely will be getting one of the two others that were shown A Firefly baby or a High White pied. It all depends on how much he wants.. What he is willing to trade or donate and receive the offspring.. HONESTLY I don't even want to sell the snakes I would rather give them away to trusted people! Not only have I never bred any snakes this guy could potentially help me in being able to say I am a small time breeder.

I need all the tips I can get. Like I said I am a Senior in High School. Studying Reptiles when I go to college if I go right away. It might be best if I try my hand at breeding.

He's going to sell a $16K snake to a 17 year old who will give away the offspring? Who is this breeder?

Here's a tip. Get you a few normal females and a nice looking pastel male. Don't over-inflate what you really have and can really do - it only makes people distrust you right off the bat.

There are only 2 or 3 panda pieds out there. Your story that this friend is going to sell it to you for cheap or loan it to you is really unbelievable - as in, no one believes it, and it makes you look foolish.

Donīt be impatient it takes time to Google who produced a Panda, got to make sure to give the right name.

    ...

Chase, donīt mind if I call you Chase? Everyone has to start somewhere, I started of with a few normals, a pair or het pied, a pastel and a spider (back then there were still pricey well at least for me), than I slowly added more animals and grew my collection, compare to others it wasnīt much (still not is).

The point I am making here is that it does not matter if you do not have expensive animals to start with, what matters is that you are motivated, passionate and HONEST.

Donīt go and destroy your name and reputation before you even get one other have tried and it did not work.

Few people Bred Black Pastel Pieds, and the odds are against you. Just like hitting an Albino Pied - 1:16 per egg. You only get 2-8 eggs, so hitting it from double hets is pretty tough. More will be mass produced in the years to come as people cross Male Pandas to double hets increasing the odds to 1:4, but having multiple females, producing a lot more eggs. Just like all other morphs, once they have been mass produced, value goes way down.

It's not a simple combo to hit (super black pastel pied). Think of what you would need in order to make it, how much those BPs cost, and the odds working against you

    Yeah, I know...
More than likely I won't be getting anything near a Panda Pied at all.... I do have a few Ball Pythons but not worth breeding them. I met this breeder that had an ad up for selling some supplies and snakes and I sent him an email asking if he could show me the ropes upon breeding, then I asked my mother and she said no more snakes. She has a extreme fear of them and that many being in my room could pose a problem towards her. I am sorry for saying that I was getting some High End Ball Python morphs and trying to become a All-Time Top Rare Breeder. I probably will never be that good at it. I am studying everyday on MULTIPLE reptiles and amphibians to achieve my goal of being an Exotic Veterinarian though. I have never bred any ball pythons before. I honestly dont know the breeders name. I just started talking to him by email yesterday. He has sold alot of his inventory already. But I can assure you and swear to you that he did say he may be able to get me some good morphs to start out breeding. He said maybe some ghosts or clowns and maybe some albinos his friend has.

Im sorry for portraying myself as something and someone I am not.

Now that's more like it! Appreciate your honesty now - you'll get far more people rooting for you and willing to help you when you're just honest about what's going on. Even the big guys started with just a few snakes. Your passion, paired with honesty and hard work will get you much further!

When you post here, you own what you say. It's a good lesson to learn.

You have a handful of posts here. Your humble apology (if genuine) was a good start to get back on the right track. Just continue to be humble, don't rush, and learn from the membership here - and no one will remember your bumpy start a few months from now. :)

What do you have right now and why do you feel they are not worth breeding? And getting that job would be good, breeding gets expensive fast.

The humiliation shouldn't ba a big deal, you were just excited.
More info about the snakes you have? I suggest giving it a year or two evenlearning about them and perfecting your husbandry skills before trying to breed. Getting baby morphs and learning as you raise them to breeding size is really best. Also babies are less expensive. There are baby spiders and pastels and hypos that you could find for an affordable price.

it's not the 16 to 1 odds. there's many issues with super cinnys and super black pastels. take away the pied part. theres many cinnys and black pastels out there. how many supers do you see for sale?
