Cut my Mojave clutch today, video included
We had some requests for a video on cutting ball python eggs. The last request was from a non-herp person so I figured I had better get my butt in gear and make one! Spreading knowledge and hopefully sparking interest every chance I get ;)
Here is the video
http://youtu.be/19zDYQl7AR4
2 mojaves and 2 normals. One or both of the mojaves could be pastel mojaves, but I really don't know yet. I'm terrible at picking out pastel mojaves so hopefully it will be clear once they are out of the eggs.
Here are some shots

Congrats on the clutch! I love me some Mojo's and those look like they are going to be pretty ones just from the glance within the eggs. Post more pics once they are out :)

Thanks for the video! I wondered how people did it with out worrying about cutting the babies. Gah. I'd be to scared to cut.

Can't wait to I get to do this, I'm going to be really nervous when it comes to the cutting. I would feel terrible if I hurt one of the babies. Thanks for the great video.

You're very welcome. It's really easy to cut the eggs, you just have to pinch the egg and the snake will be fine. It's certainly not for everyone though!

It's very exciting! My husband and I have been counting down the days till I cut them. The female that laid these eggs was his very first snake!
I've never nicked one of the babies. You just have to keep the egg pinched. I use to stress out about cutting veins but as long as you avoid the big veins you'll be fine.

I thought one videobombing kitty was cute enough...then I saw TWO videobombing kitties! Too cute. They make me miss my grey and white kitty.
As for the clutch, they look good! Maybe both of those mojaves will end up being pastaves!

Lol I know! Leya, the one sitting next to me is our handicat, she's blind. I thought it would be too cute to leave her sitting next to me :) Stuart is afraid of everything so he was tapping/smacking the other eggs, lol.
I really hope at least one of them is a pastave! That would be awesome!

Lol, I wasn't going to, but I could definitely do that. I'll make my sister suffer through the video with me :)

I would have never pegged her as blind! Both are super adorable! My cat used to bat at everything. When I moved to the house I'm in now, there are cat allergies so she couldn't come :( I do, however, have two dogs. one is afraid of the snakes. If he sees one out, he turns and runs in the other direction. He's scared of my 117g hatchling! The other LOVES to bark at the feeders and poke her head in tubs. I can't wait to see what she does when I pull out my first clutch of eggs.

Most people don't realize she's blind until she runs into them, or their bag/purse/shoes on the floor, lol. There is a 1% chance that they will go blind or die during a spay surgery. She was the lucky 1%! She's a good kitty though :)
Aww, I would be lost without my kitties! Your dogs sound hilarious!

I didn't realize that was a complication of surgery :O Poor girl!
Here's Lilly barking at the rat (you can see the rat in the right corner of the top 41qt tub). The other dog is the one scared of snakes. I'll have to get a video of him running from the snakes. It's too funny. Sometimes I pull out snakes just to mess with him.

Re: Cut my Mojave clutch today, video included
Yeah :( I said I wasn't paying the $200 bill for her to go blind then they showed me the disclaimer paperwork I signed and sure enough it was in there. It had only happened to one other cat at that vet office and they were a very big high quality place.
Oh my gosh they are too cute! Thor, our little Chihuahua goes nuts when I feed the snakes too! It's so strange!
