My Dislike Of Mustangs
I decided to make this thread instead of hijacking the "theft" thread.
I dislike Mustangs in general. Why? Because there are 100's of 1000's of them here in the Southeast. You cannot go a block without seeing one. There are probably 100 outside in the parking lot here at work.
That said I do appreciate certain derivations like Shelby's/Cobras. I don't see them every day like I do the plain ones.
The Mustang is not alone in my general dislike. I can't stand Honda Accord or Toyota Camry's for the same reason: They are everywhere here!
I prefer my car to, at least for a while, stand out. My Mazda 6 is 10 years old now and there was nothing like it on the road when I got it. There are more out there now but they sure aren't on every corner. And now they've changed how it looks so my car stands out against the newer models. I need a new paint job but it runs as well as it ever did.
Anyways. What cars can't you stand to see or own?
-
Mustangs like you, Camaros, just about every muscle car, new wanna be's and old ones. Lamborghini Gallardo's because every wan to be has one and the Fiat Multipla, cannot stand to even look at them, I hope Fiat fired the designer.
-
I hate people: they're everywhere!
On a srs, I love Mustangs and always have. Mine is IMO heavily modded and stands out against all the other stock ones and I'm very proud of the mods I have done to it (I did the custom stripe job myself and painted the body kit too) and it's still in progress. I'll admit I lol at some that I think are kinda funky looking but there's many restored older and newer modded ones I've seen that I need to tip my hat too. All preference.
But on that note I hate the '10-'14 Mustangs though....
-
I hate everything from about 1964 on.
They look bad, everyone wants one, and the ones I have driven (96 model and an 03 and 04) drove like absolute crap. They were terrible inside, they shook like no other, and I was so glad to get out of it.

Re: My Dislike Of Mustangs
So OP your issue isn't necessarily with Mustangs, just with mass-produced cars where every one looks like every other one? Well, that I can agree with, my husband and I also prefer "unique" vehicles.
OTOH according to Ford only about 12,000 1969 Mustang convertibles were ever produced and I'm sure a good many have been scrapped over the years.
ETA: If it's got spark plugs, it ain't a truck. :D

My Dislike Of Mustangs
I hate horses in general. I'm not racist, I hate all breeds.
-
BMW every friggin model.. Maybe Because where I'm from BMW was a standard car for "gangsters" and Drug dealers...
Hate That Cars With Passion and Audi TT same reason..
Love BMW bikes Dakkar is my favorite...
-
I see your point OP but your 6 will never be a classic like a 69 Mustang convertible.
I think Daybreaker and I have something in common about to many people and its part of the problem with vehicles today. To many people so we need to many cars.
I hate people that buy a stock model then put upgrade decals on it. As in making a Ford XL a King Ranch Lariat Harley Edition.
-
Re: My Dislike Of Mustangs
Typically don't care for some of the "status" cars like BMW, Mercedes, Porche, and some Audis. Beemers and Porshes I don't really like the look on most of the cars. I do appreciate some cars under those names like the Cayman and R8(drool).
But cars that I really do not like at all are the Mini cooper, Smart car, and that new Fiat thing. Those things need to get plowed to the side of the road in the worst way.
-
Re: My Dislike Of Mustangs
I hate those little smart cars. How would you like to get in a wreck in one of those?? No thanks, I'll keep my suv.
-
I've owned mustangs, Camaro's, Corvette's, 60's and 70's model muscle cars. I see the attraction of mustangs and camaro's for the money they are affordable horsepower and grunt. I also however see the attraction of Porche, Ferrari, Lambo's and my personal favorites Aston Martin's. Personally the only car I've ever seen that I just would like to run off the road is the "Cube". What I can't stand is high performance cars with automatic transmissions yea it looks good makes a pretty noise, but you might as well be driving your moms Oldsmobile..So if you're going to buy a 300+bhp car do yourself a favor, learn how to work a clutch. Cause whats the point in that kind of gas powered fun if you can't dump the clutch and annoy the neighbors.
-
I hate them cars with the motor cycle exhaust on em that make them sound like a super loud weedwacker. I have also never been a mustang fan.

I honestly didn't think any car could outdo the ugliness of the pontiac aztec. Then along came the cube.... :(

My Dislike Of Mustangs
I hate any car I'm behind. I really don't care of the label or looks.
I guess my hate is really more for the driver and not the car. I want to punch the people who litter, I think I hate them the most. :) Or the person who rushes to get around you so they can be one car closer!!!
Ok I'm way off topic.
-
Re: My Dislike Of Mustangs
I love classic muscle cars, I hate todays versions of them tho. Id rather see a clasic than plastic.

Hummers and Escalades. What an ostentatious waste of steel. All so some wrinkled old banker or stock broker with way more money than is good for anyone can pretend to be a tough guy driving around town in his little tank while going through fuel at an alarming rate. :rolleye2:
-
Hey Mike...Cubes are AWESOME!!! Dont diss the Nissan!!!
-
The new Hummers I am not a fan of but would love to have the real deal military version.
I don't think we can classify a vehicle that is smaller than my motorcycle a real car.

Re: My Dislike Of Mustangs
I hate any new American muscle they're all garbage, the oldies is where its at. I also dont like any honda besides a 88-91 CRX. Honda boys and us V-dub boys just don't mix. I havent lost to any car (mod vs mod) besides my buddies STI which is also heavily modded o and a nice tuned s200 got close one time but I missed 3rd hard . Any how there is just something about smearing around a big boy v-8 in a lil 4 banger (makes me chuckle every time) Cars and snakes are my hobbies and a way of life!
I own a 02 VW 1.8t 20v with a 16g big turbo and a 93 VW corrado that Ive been modding for 2 years here and there. The corrado has 63,000 original miles on it, hoping to have the BT on by the end of this summer/fall its the only thing I'm missing (performance wise).

OP, here is the flaw in your logic.
Saying you hate mustangs and other various commonly seen cars is like saying you would rather use old glass fish aquariums with heat lamps instead of PVC cages and racks with flexwatt/RHP's because "glass fish aquariums with snakes/lizards in them is unique and not seen everyday"
There is a reason that some things are seen more frequently and others not so much.

Once upon a time there were three people on a train: A Russian, A Cuban, and a Deaf Person.
the Russian pulled out a bottle of $700 vodka (distilled by the czar's personal brewmeister), took one sip out of it, and then opened the window and threw it out!!!
The deaf person asked him: "What did you do that for??"
He responded back: "There's plenty of that back where I come from,
so I'm not even worried about it"
The Cuban then pulled out a box of hand rolled Havana cigars. He lights one, takes one drag on it, then opens the window and throws it and the rest of the box out!!
The deaf man asks him: "What'd you do that for??"
The Cuban replied: "There's plenty of those back where I come from, so I'm not even worried about it"
Suddenly, a hearing person walks by!! The deaf man grabs him, opens the window and forces him out!!!!
The Russian and the Cuban turn to him and ask "What's with you?? What did you do that for??"
The deaf man answers back: "There's plenty of those back where I come from. I'm not even worried about it!!"

That's an apples and oranges comparison sir.
Racks are purely functional. Cars are not. If they were, any car would do. That's why we all have different tastes in cars.
On a different note, about 8 years ago I went on a road trip with some college buddies up the east coast. The more and more north we got the less Mustangs we saw. Once we got past Tennessee it was like they were an endangered species. So I guess its popularity is regional.
Oh and I don't count older Mustangs in my dislike. They are so rare and distinctive looking.
And lastly, I will hate on any car with a giant wing for a spoiler and an exhaust system that makes the car sound like a small plane, motorcycle, angry bee, or fart cannon.

I think we have the 'Fast and Furious' franchise to thank for this. And why would they need to know how a vtec works when they can take it to a mechanic if it breaks down? :P

Re: My Dislike Of Mustangs
I dislike all foreign cars. I will never own one. Only American cars for me. Mainly chevy. Spend your money where you make it. That's here In the US. I try to only buy American made products also. Do 90% of my grocery shopping at Giant food store cause they are a union company. Maybe I am bias because I am a union worker.

What's more American? The Toyota made in the US or the "American" car with foreign parts?
:p

Lol. GM parts made in Mexico...

Re: My Dislike Of Mustangs
You have a valid point but the money for that Toyota goes back to Japan while the money for the American cars stays in America.

Is there really a difference whether it goes to an American tycoon or a Japanese tycoon?

Ok... but the plants in the US are full of american workers... So you don't wanna support them lol? I get what you're saying, but it's a wishy washy argument imo lol. The toyota factory in TX is where my dream tundra's are made! :please:
-
My Dislike Of Mustangs
True but take away all the money that goes to the workers, all the taxes the plant pays and the money they give back to the city. I bet its close to the money leaving the country to have all those parts shipped in.
The Toyota plant here in Kentucky also pays its workers their salary to work for the community. Instead of laying them off when its slow.
Pros and Cons to everything I guess.
I can never afford a new car anyway. The only person that gets my money is the previous owner :o
Hell, I had a $10 bill the other day that said "Made in China" haha.

Re: My Dislike Of Mustangs
GM's Pontiac Vibe is the SAME platform as the Toyota Matrix. The same car, the same parts.
-
Re: My Dislike Of Mustangs
Yes gm does have a partnership with Toyota just like ford and Mazda are the same. If the minimal wage had kept up with time it would be close to $22 an hour. I total agree about the tycoons and that's a big problem with large companies. They do not want to pay the employees but want them to work more for less. That's one good thing about being union is they right for a fair wage. To be honest though my trade has not kept up. We have not gotten a raise in about three years because the contractors do not want to pay more but they want mor done for less pay. I know everyone has their own opinions about unions.

As well as Fiat and Chrysler are now the same entity. Does it really matter what make of car you purchase anymore? The money isn't going where you think it should be going.

As far as unions go, in my opinion, they may seem necessary in some professions/industries, but I think they are unnecessary. It is also my opinion that the unions played a major factor in causing the North American auto industry hardship a few years back. I think it is absolute ludicrous that unskilled labourers were making $70k+/year salaries for tightening nuts, or driving a minivan off the line in a manufacturing plant, and parking it in a parking lot. An old roommate did this exact job at a rate of $32/hour. Just my .02

This is exactly why if I were in the market for a new car now I'd get a Toyota - and we have four GM vehicles now.

Get a tundra and take lots of pictures of it for me! :D

I hate any vehicle with a ball sack hanging off the back of it. Stupid.

Mike, I could not agree with you more, but perhaps your not old enough to remeber the AMC Pacer. It would fit very nicely into this group for ugliest cars of all time.
With regards to a response to Chris, how can you not like a cherry red 65 convertable or jet black 69 fastback?

I love mustangs. I've had: 88 GT 5.0, 89 LX 5.0, 89 LX 5.0(Coupe), 93 LX 5.0, 97 Cobra, 01 Cobra.
This was the one I just got rid of which placed in several car shows:

https://sphotos-a-dfw.xx.fbcdn.net/h...73237474_n.jpg
It was built from the ground up.
I can't stand Mazda's in general, I dislike anything jacked up with anything larger than 1 size above factory rims. I think cars like that should just be plowed off the road and crushed. I also dislike anything with a weed eater muffler on it, like civics and stuff. It's one thing to have a car that sounds like a boss, but it's another thing to sound like a ticked off bee is after you. I drive a Honda Accord for gas mileage though.
-
These are the other kind of cars I hate:

This is what I was referring to about the ones being plowed off the road and crushed.
