Strangest CL 'finds'
I got bored last night and decided to peruse CL, and of course found the crazies. It ranged from the delusional (5ft generic male red tail $65 or will trade for pied or ultramel BP), to the unsettling (morphs in exchange for guns). Am I just geographically 'lucky'? What's the weirdest thing you've stumbled across?
-
Buddy of mine is really into bike racing like tour de france type stuff but on a much lighter scale. He has friends that trade snakes for bike parts.

I was about to say I've seen some 'will trade snakes for guns' ads, but then I realized you're also from Phoenix, so it's probably the exact same one!! Lol gotta love the Craigslist crazies. Seems like they're out in full force this time of year :)

Re: Strangest CL 'finds'
Well, I just offered a trade for BP's in exchange for trigger time on my machine guns, does that count? Or, your ball python for my Colt Python? LOL.
-
Unsettling?
A trade is a trade. What does it matter if it is a gun?
My local Craigslist has a person trying to trade snakes for a car.
-
Not unsettling at all that someone wants a gun, who cares what they trade for? It is still legal here in CO however now one must submit a background check for the private sale or transfer of a weapon on the purchaser. Sheriffs here in CO are fighting the new laws (which also include a magazine capacity restriction) because, among other reason, the new laws are unenforceable. If I say that they transfer occurred before 1 July then the investigator would bear the burned of proof of my lying. Either way, keeping America armed is a good thing and I would definitely take a firearm in exchange for a snake that I was selling!

I saw this ad last night and had a giggle!
As for the comment on guns, I don't care what you trade as long as it's legal.

Nothing wrong with trading snakes for guns...
Two hobbies I enjoy very much are guns and animals.
-
As a gun store owner... You would be utterly AMAZED at what people are willing to trade for a firearm. <I really should have taken the 67 mustang for an ar-15 deal>
-
I've found some weird stuff, but nothing like snakes for guns or anything.

Yea, but if they don't have money to buy pizza, how are they taking care of everything?
-
Re: Strangest CL 'finds'
Maybe it's a good thing they're rehoming them then...?
But I know I don't have money to buy pizza right now. Everyone's still fed and cared for. I just have to forgo some of life's little pleasures sometimes...
Man, I want pizza. :(

All those expensive snakes in your signature, you're not broke, lol.
-
Re: Strangest CL 'finds'
lol, just because I wasn't broke when I bought them doesn't reflect my current financial status. I'm actually unemployed. (And they were all very good deals at the time)
I have a job interview Monday, though! Woot woot.

Awe, that sucks. I have a job but it's on my last nerves with the new boss, so I'm looking for a different one. I wish you luck with your interview. If you move to Louisiana then we can go in business breeding snakes.

Re: Strangest CL 'finds'
Thanks! I hope you find the right place to work, too. Haha, and thanks, but I like Cali a little too much...:P If I move to Louisiana, I'll keep you in mind, though.

I couldn't do Cali because of earthquakes honestly, but most people would say Louisiana because of hurricanes.
-
Or Tsunamis.
I came from KS, which is Tornadoes. I just try not to worry about anything like that too much.

Re: Strangest CL 'finds'
No, there was seriously one here in Phoenix at one point where a guy wanted to trade tarantulas for bongs/water pipes or medical marijuana.

Haha nice! I remember awhile back there was a dude selling medical marijuana 'by prescription only'. I think he was trying to protect himself by throwing that in??? I was like, buddy, you can't sell 'prescription' drugs online, regardless of whether or not you grew it in your backyard. I wonder if that's the same guy.
-
Re: Strangest CL 'finds'
I'd assume not, he had the tarantulas and wanted meds. I've seen a lot of people advertise that on CL.
-
Strangest CL 'finds'
Gotcha lol. I still can't believe people would do that. Seems like you're just asking for trouble.

Me too, and we have a lot more guns than snakes. I guess I'm not really comfortable with the private sale side in general.

I believe we have a winner.

Re: Strangest CL 'finds'
Can we move away from the drug talk please?
I know you are not trying to promote it but we don't like the idea of children being able to see any mention of them on the site if possible.

I hold an 07/C2 and own a 1969 Mustang convertible. You should smack yourself repeatedly for not making that trade.
The only trades for snakes I typically see are for other snakes or reptiles, e.g. someone getting out of BP's and getting into boas, geckos, etc.

we are an 07 with the DOD manufacturing permit. Fun stuff in Cali. It's a paperwork nightmare.
Oh I did kick myself even though it needed work. I didn't because my driveway already holds 4 cars and a toy hauler. Not to mention, running the store pretty much sucks the life out of me. Thankfully my 2 legged kids are teenagers and hate the idea of hanging out with their parents. I told the guy to sell the car and come back to me for an AR... He did. We ended up building him a very nice Stag.

Ugh, I feel for you, the federal stuff is bad enough to deal with! Oh, if you find a vendor won't ship to CA, we've played middleman before. Also, are you a member of http://www.fflonly.com/forum/index.php yet?

Re: Strangest CL 'finds'
I am a member, gotta remember my log in. We use calguns.net alot in working with other dealers both in state and out. So many dealers won't touch us because of the Cali shipment letter requirements *sighs* I am looking for a decently priced dealer to convert Ar's to cali compliance. Bullet buttons etc...
LOL, we are wayyyyyy off topic now.

trade
Nothing wrong with it I'm trying to trade a gun for snakes as we speak
