Lesserbee x Yellowbelly Clutch hatching
After a couple of years of not cooperating, my female Yellowbelly finally gave me some eggs. She laid 8 good eggs and one dud. They started pipping yesterday so once they're out I'll post up some pics. In the mean time, here's Mom and Dad gettin' it on...

What a goofy snake...no, she's not dead. She just likes to scare me and act like she is.

I'll post pics of the babies once they're out.

Thanks! She maxed out my scale a few years ago so I'm not sure what she weighs. The Lesserbee there is probably around 1k grams in those pics.

It looked purty enough but no veins when I candled. I left it in the incubator but it only took about a week before it started to funk the place up...:zerb:
Re: Lesserbee x Yellowbelly Clutch hatching

You need to get another scale so you can tell us how much she weighs. Also congrats on the pairing and the clutch, hope you get lucky.
Thanks. She went right back on large rats the day after laying. :D

I'm leaning towards Yellowbelly Spider...if not, she's not like any other Spider I've ever hatched...:confusd:
Here's another Spider I hatched out a couple of weeks ago to show the difference...

I've resisted the urge to cut this year, so I'm not sure what's in the other eggs. Pretty sure there's a Lesserbee in one, although it may have YB in it also. I think one is a regular YB and one I believe is a Lesser YB. The other noses poking out show at least Spider, but other than that I'm not sure.

I'm not sure of her history. I picked her up several years ago in a trade. She's always been a great feeder though. :D

Holy crap! That lesser YB is HOT!
The two in question look like lesserbee YB's to me... But I couldn't say with 100% certainty. They're nice looking too.
The spiders don't look like spider YB's to me. I'd say just nice spiders. I could be wrong though.

Thanks. Very pleased with the Lesser YB. :D
I'm also leaning towards Lesserbee Yellowbelly's as they are more yellow than a previous Lesserbee I hatched...here's the only previous Lesserbee I've hatched...

Is it possible for the Yellowbelly to influence the pattern of the Spiders, yet not carry the actual Yellowbelly gene?
This is what I'm used to seeing when Spiders pop out...

Is the sire the same spider gene in both of those babies? The spider YB's in question, and that^ baby spider

This guy is the only Spider gene I've ever had in my collection...so they would have all originated from him. I think that's how it works. :confusd: I'm kinda dumb about some of this genetic stuff...

Very nice! The babies look great! I can't help you in your spider yb question though. I'm not very good at picking them out!

Me either. :confusd: I wish it was as easy as the Lesser YB...he has a big "Y" on his neck to indicate Yellowbelly. :D
Re: Lesserbee x Yellowbelly Clutch hatching
I never understood how anyone could pick out a yellowbelly from a serious pattern morph like spider or pinstripe, so...goood luck with that!
I'm interested to see someone with experience chime in though!

I would think people who have been working with YB's for a while could pick them out...I'm a Yellowbelly newb. It may be easier after a few sheds. :confusd:
Re: Lesserbee x Yellowbelly Clutch hatching
Figuring out the YB males is easy. When they grow up we'll pair each with my Specter to see if we get Super Stripes. :D
