Re: Is this common practice?
I believe breeders don't feed as often as we do so the snakes don't get too big.
Re: Is this common practice?
Its probably a combo of space, money, and the snake itself.
I had a male that was 250g for a year. His set up was the same as all my other animals, but he was just a poor feeder. He was offered food weekly, and only ate once or every other month at best.
And he only took very small prey.

That being said I wouldn't sell a 2 year old poor eating snake without letting the customer know it was just that.
Not power feeding and a poor feeder are two very different things.
That's pretty much how I feel about the situation right now. I did ask for a feeding log and they said they would get it to me with the snake, no log just feeding date. The girl jamie told me they didn't keep a log only yes/no if they ate when offered food and I said that was ok I would like a copy, she said nick could get that to me no prob. I emailed nick today since it didn't come with a log and I've been holding off to email them as I didn't want to come off as a hard ass right after getting a snake from them. Nick responds they do not keep feeding logs.
So I don't really know any approximation of how many meals he has taken since birth...kind of irritating. This was entirely my fault though, I recognize I did buy the snake prior to actually receiving and reviewing the snakes records. That being said I did expect a little more from Mark & Kim Bell's company, you know what I mean? I likely will not buy live animals from them ever again after this transaction though, they had a few males/females available at the time and all were within 20-30 grams of each other...makes me a bit more suspicious for animals that all feed and grow at different rates.
Thanks again for the reassurance though all of you, it has been a great help
