What to breed with a pastel to make some really cool looking BPs?
Hey everyone, I'm new to the forum but not to reptiles. I used to breed bearded dragons but couldn't handle the horrible stench of keeping the dragons anymore as I have a lot of people over on weekends and don't want my house to have an image of it being dirty. Everyone understands either way. So now I am selling them off cheap.
I am now moving on to breeding my 2 Panther chameleons which is proving to be a challenge (she's about to lay all of her eggs, fingers crossed that they're fertile).
I also have a female pastel ball python (pic attached at the end) which I would like to try and breed in the future, she is almost a year old and weighs 560 grams.
What should I pair her with in order to make some nice looking BPs. Would a blue eyed leucistic be a good pair? I've never seen one of these until 2 days ago at the Ajax Reptile Expo but can't afford the $1000 the guy wanted just yet as I have a wedding coming up.
What would the outcome of a BEL x Pastel be?
Here's the pic from 3 months ago, not the best quality but I can get more if needed.

Depends what kind of BEL you're talking about. There are multiple ways to make a BEL

I'm not too familiar with all the different BELs. The one I saw was pretty much ivory coloured with blue eyes.
Would only certain BELs paired with my pastel create more BELs? Or would it be rare to get more BELs out of a pastel pairing...

You will not get any BELs from that pairing
BELs can be created from
mojave x mojave
lesser (or butter) x lesser (or butter)
mojave x lesser (or butter)
Any I am forgetting anyone?
BEL x pastel will get you possibly, pastel mojave, pastel lesser (or butter), pastels, mojaves, lesser (or butter), normals, depending on what type of BEL you have

Don't forget Het Russos. They make White Diamonds and are compatible with lesser, butter, and Mojave.
Also the Black Eyes Leucistics. (Super fires)
And you will not get any normal babies from any BEL parent.

So in your opinions, given the potential offspring morphs that can be obtained from this pairing, would it be worth the cost of a BEL?
What type of BEL (male) should I look for? Is an average price around $1500 (CAD) for a BEL? I would love to be able to make some of those White Diamonds and Black Eyed Leucistics (and of course any morph in general)

If money is an issue you could pick up a male fire or spider. both are relatively cheap and mix nicely with pastel.

I wouldn't say money is an issue. It's just a matter of saving on the side for it. I want to make this a potential business at home on top of working. I'm 1/3rd of the way to getting a BEL, and that's just from saving the left overs of my pay checks a day or 2 before I get paid, I started doing this about a month and a half ago and am at $500 so far.
What I'd like to do is get a rack instead of tanks...

gah I don't know why I was thinking you'd get normals, lol
I knew I was forgetting one for blue eyed lucy's, thank you

I suggest getting a Mojave Lesser BEL.
That renders pastel mojaves, pastel lessers, lessers, and Mojave offspring when bred to your pastel.
Or butter gene instead of lesser.
You can find males for less than $1000. I've seen them as low as $800.

Since you said it looked ivory colored, the one you saw may have been an Ivory, aka super yellow belly.
Super Yellow Belly(Ivory) x Pastel = pastel yellow belly and yellow belly.
But wait, you said it had blue eyes, Ivory bps have black eyes.

At the poster above me, I'm just describing the colour but it was a blue eyes leucistic all white and was $1000. I plan to buy a male one next year.
Not that it matters as I do this as a hobby, would a pastel x BEL potentially make some expensive baby balls?

My favorite 2 gene combo that includes pastel is firefly, hands down. They're one of the most outrageously bright 2 gene combos you can find so long as you're working with quality stock. My vote would be for a male fire or super fire.
