Is this some kind of a sick joke?
Since when did KFC become rich people food?? $22 (before they add our ridiculously high state sales' tax) for an 8 piece meal? WHAT? It's freaking chicken, not a bucket of fillet minons! I added the S on purpose.

I had to read the menu like 15 times because I was sure I was seeing it wrong! Once reality set in, I went into a Blind-Kodie-Rage! I literally almost punched the dang speaker. Fortunately I realized that I hadn't rolled my window down yet before it was too late. AND THEN....Window dude had the ball pythons to tell me that I have to choose two DIFFERENT sides! Yeah, that's gonna happen, Sparky. You better believe I got my two mashed potatoes!

Seriously! I'm one freaking person! I should be able to eat almost whatever I want for like ten bucks! What the hell is this world coming to?!

Whatever. I'm gonna go eat my chicken. If anyone else is royally pissed at the rising cost of fast food, I'd love to hear your thoughts. :frustrate

Wow, I thought Paradise was overpriced....
That's where I work (it's a bakery/cafe) and people are ALWAYS complaining about the high prices.

Haven't been to KFC in quite a while. Guess that's not changing for a while....

haha...Sparky. That made me lol. I know what you mean. I stopped at Hardee's yesterday morning after work and spent over 11 bucks on two chicken biscuits and two hash browns. WTH???

Not many options other than going somewhere else, and/or contacting the company to express your dissatisfaction...:rage:

That's ridiculous :/ same with Panda Express. I'm not a chow mein, or fried rice person, all I want is a good size portion of general gho's chicken. The lady at the front counter says " ok, that's going to be 10 dollars is that ok?" KNOWING that I would say HEYYYY NO! I didn't get panda after all,, maybe ilI save up all my change over the next few weeks and splurge on it one day!!!

    Ha .... Yeah right.

You can get a nice hot whole rotisserie chicken at the grocery store for like 6 bucks. That leaves you about 16 bucks to spend on your own secret herbs and spices.

Wait....your order a bucket of chicken just for yourself? That's meant to feed up to 4 people. It's like complaining that you bought 4 whoppers meals from BK for $20.

You will feel better when I tell you we pay 28$ for the 8 piece meal add our 15% tax... 32.20$ cad oh let me convert that... $31.30 according to my bank. Now some local perspective...

One of the best rated fine dining restaurants has a 'business Lunch' special for lunch.
Chicken (2oz), Filet Mignon (2oz) & choice of one of the following: Shrimp (2), Scallop (2), Salmon (2oz) or Pork (2).

for 19$ plus our tax... 22$ Lets add a nice tip... 27$

Oh did I mention that is cook on a table top grill? Oh and comes with soup vegetables and rice? oh slipped my mind. Oh and a coffee.

Needless to say I don't remember the last KFC meal I had.

    FINALLY!
Yes, I really was shocked that it was $22, Yes, Sparky did try to dictate my side order which I felt was insane, considering how much KFC costs these days. But really, I posted this because I was driving home thinking about how expensive crap has gotten and suddenly, a light bulb came on! I was like, "Wait! Normal people don't eat like you. If we're breaking it down by the person, you really only paid about five bucks for your share, you're just going to eat everyone's!"

I expected that someone would immediately be like, "Well, cow, one person doesn't usually order off the family menu! Did you even look at the the individual meal menu?"

    Thank you, Mason!

    PS
Can you really get 4 Whopper meals for $20?

I can't speak for where you are, but here, a whopper meal after tax is under $5 unless you add cheese or upsize the meal.

Well I'm in no way going to comment on about the food being for however many people, but that price is still horribly high to me. Then again I'm not big on fried chicken so I couldn't tell you the comparable prices of Popeye's and Church's. I like simple food and I like cheap, so normally when I'm going to eat fast food, I stop at BK, order two-three rodeo cheese burgers(they run a bit small) and a drink. I think they're $1.50ish so it's cheap and it hits the spot. Though I try to not eat fast food, because I enjoy eating healthy.

I don't think $22 for 4 meals is all that bad, but it is not as cheap as it's been in the past.

I often get a Hardee's biscut and drink in the mornings on my way to work. That's usually under $4 and I don't have to try to cook at home, which would involve me getting up earlier, doing things with sharp and/or hot things while half asleep, eating it without accidentally dropping it to a dog... or I could just stop at a drive-thru window and get something that tastes great.

I try to not eat out any more than I have to, but I've noticed lately that a 'meal' at Wendy's is usually ending up at a $10 mark. That makes me think about how much food I can get at the grocery for $10 vs a single meal.

So mostly I get a breakfast items some workdays, but more rarely for lunch or dinner.

I can get a box of fried chicken at Publix grocery for $7. For extra, you can add in sides and bread and such. Publix fried chicken PWNS KFC or Popeyes.

haha...I'm usually stopping there on my way home from work for breakfast...prices have gone up quite a bit here. It's been a while since I stopped there, but I know it didn't used to be close to 6 bucks for a chicken biscuit and hash browns (no drink)...that's nuts...

Rotisserie chicken at the market, 6 bucks for the entire bird. Five bucks, if it's near the end of the shelf life and they want to get rid of it. It's freaking delicious. 3 meals (it's just me, not married and no kids here), plus you get the carcass for making stock or soup or whatever.

I don't eat fast food, I used to, but it doesn't agree with me anymore. I miss those quarter pounder with cheese sometimes. And the fries. But yeah, $25 bucks for KFC? That's hella expensive. You know KFC is getting chicken from factory farms. Cheap chicken, cheap ingredients for the breading, and they're charging out the nose for it. If I can pay 6 bucks for an entire cooked chicken at the market, what's up with KFC's prices?

Yes, fast food has gotten ridiculous. When I eat out, usually a few times a week during lunch, I get the double cheese meal from McD's. $4.30 for a sandwich, fries and large drink. Cheapest thing they sell as a combo.

Other than that, we eat out as a family a few times a month when the kids pay for dinner. We usually go to Hardee's or Jack in the Box then. But we have it down to a science, and usually the 4 of us can eat for $30 or less. Which isn't bad for fast food. Otherwise I cook. One because I love to, and two because I can get three of four meals out of that same $30. Sometimes more. I am an avid bargain shopper and coupon fanatic. I love to see how cheap I can score things we eat/use a lot. But none of this fake "coupon TV" junk! I do it for real. Two years ago, one of my local stores got Miracle Whip on sale for a stupid cheap price, something like $1.75 a jar if you bought 2. Then I snagged a bunch of $1.50 off a jar coupons from Ebay. Ended up with 22 jars of $4.00 Miracle Whip for .25 a jar! It was great!

I shop Aldi's and my local produce stand for produce. The prices can't be touched by anyone else. Saw two young guys this morning at Schnucks, bought 2 lousy little peaches for $1.55. I got 20 from Aldi's for .29 each. You get the idea.

It's a lot harder to coupon in Canada compared to what I've seen on those couponing shows.
