Just wondered if there were any other people here who play an instrument. I play electric guitar and I am soon going ot learn how to play the violin.
-
I played french horn for 10+ years...and could also play trumpet, flute, clarinet, saxophone and oboe. I also play some piano, which is the only thing I currenly own and still fiddle with. I started to learn bass guitar, but never owned my own so that didn't go too far. I do miss being in the middle of the music. :(
-
Sweet! I have my own guitar. Its a Gibson SG. I hope to learn violin in the near future. My cousin tought me a bit of violin.
-
I play a lot of different percussion insterments.
Im hoping to get a drum set ont of these days... maybe when I finish buying snakes (as if that will happen)lol

I plan to buy a violin after I'm done getting my snake. Or maybe I'll just get another snake.

Simply stunned...
i play the guitar and the drums... i consider myself to be an excellent drummer, but guitar i'm not so sure about it. and for some reason, id much rather play a guitar than the drums.
this reminds me...

lol, scratching soooo doesn't count as an instrument. anyone with rythem can do it. how long have you been playing the guitar? and what style do you prefer?

wow, what a coincident, i come home from my bass lessons and see this.
so, obviously i play bass
i used to play trumpet...when i was like 8 or 9. it got boring because he didnt teach me anything new, so i stoped

Used to play: Trumpet and Violin
Currently play around with: Acoustic and electric guitars, bass, keyboards, drum set, and tablas. Music is cool! Plus the ladies love it. :)
and Will dude as far as I am concerned scratching is an instrument dude - all it takes is rythm to do it but to be good (i.e. DJ logic, DJ Shadow, Mix Master Mike) you really have to have an ear for stuff like melodies and backbeats and beat matching and stuff it's crazy. I've played around with tables before but it's really hard to be good. Sort of like bass - it's easy to play but REALLY hard to be Good at.

I play guitar for the music. I hope to sometime start a band, but I don't know anybody that plays an instrument.
-
Where do you live? Need tips on starting a band? I'm a minor in music business and in high school formed played in and recorded a CD with a band. Though I don't play much anymore I'd LOVE to talk to anyone who wants about it - the music business, recording sessions, recording gear, publishing, copyright law etc. (I was an audio engineer for a while too but only at a basic level)
-
well i can mix and i don't consider it an instrument. if you have that musical ear it's pretty easy.
-
Well my dad knows alot of about music. A WHOLE lot. He does recording and such. And right now I'm in the process of moving. Right now I'm in Michigan, but I will soon be moving to Minnesota.
-
sweet. Go to your local Sam Ash guitar - promise you'll find some freelance musicians if not you can always find a friend who was a cellist and have them learn bass (that's what we did in my first band) because Jack Black says it true....
"what's that thing you were playing?"
"oh that was a cello"
"okay well bass is exactly the same thing as that but you just turn it on it's side and .... cello! It's a bass!"
-
I love school of rock! Awsome movie! Ilove it! and really i'm not quite good enough to start a band
-
Have you ever heard of the band Yellowcard? They have a guy who plays violin. It sound really cool mixed in with the other instruments.
-
I play the flute and the drums.
Have been playing the flute since 4th grade and the drums since high school.
It was cool back then to be a chick and play drums :) (the 70's)
But I dig the sounds I can make with the flute- Toot Toot!!
-
I still think female drummers are awesome especially the good ones like Lenny Kravitz's
-
Animal Plastics
She rocks, also Billy Joel ( ok ok I know ) had an awesome chick drummer about 5 yrs ago. She was amazing even if she was playing Joel tunes :)
-

Guitar, piano and harpsachord here......not great at any of them, but love to play. Self tought, cant read a lick of music.
-

Jonah - wow mr talented! :)
-
I noodle around on guitar - down to a couple acoustics now. The three boys on the other hand: piano/clarinet; trumpet/guitar; trombone/bass/drums.
-
Guitar ... was in a band in college, but that was 5 years or so ago.
-
I played the trumpet in elementary school but now I just sing I was even a lead vocalist in a band about 12 years ago.
Haven't been to kareoke in a while but I love to go.
-
I can play the trumpet and the piano, neither of which I do enough of any more. I wish I had enough rhythm to play the drums though =)
First Time Herp, Sean Mackin of Yellowcard is a great violinist. I'm nuts over him
