Anyone else's noodle ever forget that water exists?
Every couple of weeks, I end up reminding Magnus that his water dish is there and full. Every time I place him next to his dish with his head hanging over the edge, he flicks at it and then ends up taking a long drink. I understand that much of their water consumption is from prey intake, so is it against their nature to drink from the bowls, even though we provide them? He's always more "cheerful" after drinking, as cheerful as a snake can be, I guess. He's not dehydrated either, he just had a perfect shed and there's no signs of dimpling in his eyes. He just... forgets.

    Anyone else?

Mine hardly drink from their bowls. Its mainly just a humidity aide now. The only ones who show any vague interest in water are my off feed adults. But that's probably due to lack of food, thus moisture content.

Not like a BP ventures out often for a drink at the watering hole. ;)

I'm really doubting he forgets to drink or forgets where the water is. I've only ever seen it happen once, it's kind of like shedding you know it happens but you don't often catch them in the act. Unless you are able to watch him 24/7 (especially at night) I'm guessing he knows it's there and drinks it. They're sneaky and secretive.

I find that my balls drink fine on their own, and my hognose forget at times. I can take a random young hog on any given day and place it face first in water; it drinks like it hasn't had water in years... funny little buggers.

I can't be sure I've ever seen my ball python actually drink water. To be fair Loki is ridiculously private... I'm sure he's doing it at night when he assumes I'm sleeping so I can't see him. :)

... He maintains his hydration well enough, so I haven't worried about it.

I've only seen two of mine drink. My big normal male drinks all the time. From his weight measurements, after a medium rat, he will drink 2-3oz in water during the day after feeding. He also comes out immediately after I refresh his water bowl and takes a few long gulps.

Haha, sounds like it very much has to do with the personality of the snake then. I only ever spot Magnus drinking when I "remind" him, and then he drinks for up to a minute or two at a time; otherwise he usually does when I'm not looking (I can only assume, of course).

I have a spider who is like a dog when it comes to her water. Everytime I change her water out, no matter if it was clean or dirty, she slithers over, drinks a little, then continues to blow air into her water making bubbles. The first time she did this I thought something was wrong (I had never seen this before!) But the vet checked her out on her last visit and when I told him he said she was fine. Still to this day my snake decides to blow bubbles in her fresh water. lol

Every few nights I'll see my Samantha drink a little on her nightly rounds of the cage, but my boy Joey, I've only seen him drink after feeding time, usually about an hour after he has eaten he will go and take a long drink

I think it really depends on the snake.

My girl drinks all the time. I mean I hear stories of people saying how rare it is to see snakes drink but yet my girl and just drink from her water bowl for a good 10 minutes at a time. I remember freaking out when liquid was also coming out with her urates but my vet said she was just keeping herself very hydrated.

Just loves drinking I guess.

Funny this thread is here- I was just holding Pandora and went to the kitchen to get a glass of water to have by my bed... And as we were walking back into the bedroom she stuck her head in the glass and took a drink.

    Cute stories, y'all!

I've seen some of mine drink and I have a fire male who stays in his water bowl almost all the time even though he has a hide.

Those would've been awesome pics to take. Then make memes out of. :D

I'll typically see my snakes drink after I change their water or after feeding.
