I had 2 small f-t pinkies left so I let Rocky have a snack. I will give him his larger mouse this week.

All Gone, can I have ice cream now?
Did the stinker eat that pinky butt first? I think that is funny.

From now on include all your pics in a single post, not all of them within 10.

    Thanks

Hey, Elysia has him topped ^_^ She tried to eat her fuzzy from the middle yesterday ^_^ Took her a few seconds to realize she couldnt swallow him from that direction then finally found his face and preceeded to swallow it ^_^

True, he ate it butt first which is funny now that you mention it. he ate them both that way. He eats larger meals head first.
Sorry for not posting pics together in one post.

i cannot believe you fed your BCI a freakin' pinky. snakes don't have "snacks".

Yeah, I would not feed pinkies. Just one big rat pup a week for Apache. I read somewhere that feeding multiple meals in a week will upset the digestive tract.

He is still small, only a month old. He ate a couple fuzzies the second day I had him which were still a bit small for him. That is why I gave him the pinkies 4 days later. This week he will eat a regular mouse and keep to a 7 day feeding schedule. The breeder was feeding him fuzzies but he is thick enough now for small mice. I know I should not feed him anything bigger than his girthiest point right?

yep... but people tend to overlook the fact that you can feed prey items that are too small... basically all youre doing when you feed your boa a pinky is screwing up its tummy.

I will stick to every 7 days and give him his large fuzzie. His breeder told me large fuzzies or small hoppers are good for now.
I know I should not have given him the pinkies.

I don't think it's a big deal to feed your snake pinkies. I certainly wouldn't buy any pinkies for the express purpose of "snacking", but at the same time, snakes are opportunistic feeders and they will certainly eat a litter of pinkies in the wild after having eaten the mother. It's doubtful that in the wild, a snake will always find prey items that are exactly the same girth as the thickest part of their body.

    Just my 2 cents.

our snakes aren't wild. they're captive.

    hhw - agreed.
Not a huge deal. It can be a little rougher on the digestive track, but in the wild they eat what and when they can...

Good Info everyone. I will stick to the every 7 day feeding schedule with a decent size meal.
