This can't be legal...
I don't think bp's are legal in NYC so are they getting in dead ones...? I would try it, not if it wasn't fresh though lol.

I know snake is good, does solve the problem of invasive species, i.e florida, id give it go depending on what kind/ where it was from.

I believe I read somewhere that 'glades pythons were high in mercury content. But that's just my hearsay...

This can't be legal...
There aren't enough burms in FL to sustain anyone for any length of time.

Re: This can't be legal...
Id eat it an have no moral conflict with it. Growing up lower scale money wise and being a poor college student I learned long ago if its food dont complain just eat!

It's pretty good. So is alligator.

So for the most part it seems that we would try it?! Didn't know about the mercury but it does make sense, most apex fish have the same problem.
-
Question to the OP:
Why does it seem like something that would be illegal?
You can order lion in some places perfectly legally.

Snakes seems to me to be a very...stupid source of food though, to farm. But that's just my farming childhood talking. I've raised (And butchered myself) rabbits and chickens for food. And enjoyed them! But snakes...I can see hunting them wild, but farming snakes for meat is just not smart, economically. lol
edit: Okay, that website seriously has my mouth watering. ELK...Gaaah, I love elk.

Re: This can't be legal...
The rattler is spendy on there. I gotta cousin that eats it couple times a month, him an his AF buddies always are hunting so if they find rattle snakes they will take a few for the post hunt meal. I would try the python not spendy either but its two pop cans worth so not a ton. Wonder if its burms or balls ha

It's rather my opinion that it would be. To me, eating a python would be like a cat lover eating it cat. I couldn't sum myself up to do it, but to each their own.
Albeit these may be the same pythons hunted for skin too, OR it IS likely they may, in fact, be royal pythons. (More likely than not.)

I'd try it, can't be too picky. Would I eat a snake that I own...no...would I eat a burmese from the everglades, or rattle snake, or if i was hungry enough in a survival situation and i had tons of garter snakes in my yard, I would eat them...

I'd eat a snake.
I'm a dog lover. I love my dogs more than any other pet and more than most people. Id still like to try dog meat though. (Not my dogs tho. Haha). Dogs are bred as food in some countries. It doesn't bother me because I know we eat animals that are considered taboo elsewhere too and that each country is different.

^^^This! I really don't understand why people have issues with eating some types of animals, yet they don't have a second thought when it comes to chowing down on a burger lol. It's just a different combination of meat and fat :) Why should you have a conscience when it comes to choosing a beef-burger over a snake-burger?

You guys seem like a tough lot Lol
A'ight, then... would you eat a person?! I heard human meat tasted like pork.
-
Re: This can't be legal...
That would be different, since that's called, um, cannibalism. And it is illegal in most places last time I checked. ;) :colbert:

Humans take pretty bad care of themselves in general, for this reason I'm out on the human buffet.

I wouldn't, but if you eat meat, why not? Meat is meat is meat, am I right? Lol

In a survival kinda thing long pig is doable, but only in the most severe situation
-
Re: This can't be legal...
I have eaten dog meat before it is kinda sweet and really tender. I believe it was huskey we ate
-
Ew no.. humans just kinda gross me out.
I may or may not sometimes think about fried earlobes though.. it would be like bacon fat lol
-
This can't be legal...
I would love to try some chihuahua after the blowout we had over them the other day.

Re: This can't be legal...
There's actually a disease you can get from eating human flesh, similar to mad cow disease. Not to mention with how horrible of care most ppl take of themselves, I wouldn't want to eat a human.
-
I had the opportunity to try rattlesnake... I couldn't bring myself to do it.
I'll stick with other animal meats that I don't keep as pets :gj:
To each their own!
-
In an *extreme* survival/apocalypse situation, I'd eat a person in order to live. (The Donnor Party anyone??)
Emphasis on extreme....really extreme........
In other lesser situations or general day life, it's a definite NO.
I imagine humans taste gross due to a generally poor diet and nutrition too.

Ooh! Ooh! We were just talking about this in microbiology! It's called Kuru. It is a spongiform encephalitis caused by a prion. One gets it from postmortem cannibalism, and it was discovered in a tribe that ritually eats the brains of their dead tribemates. It's also called laughing sickness because one of the symptoms (as its eating holes in your brain tissue) is inappropriate laughter.
I thought about eating humans after reading a thing about the ten most infamous modern day cannibals- Why was I so grossed out? Humans are just meat, like any other meat; muscles and fat and skin...
I was vegetarian for the next 23 years.
