    Jungle x coral albino breeding?
I just got a male coral albino male for my birthday and I was wondering what I could get if I pair It with my jungle? Thanks

Albino is recessive and jungle is co-dominant, so that means statistically half the babies will be jungle, and all of the babies will be 100% het coral albino

Ok thanks! I think I might sell the jungle and get a hypo het albino to breed him to?

All the babies will be 100% het albino since one parent is a visual albino but your jungle percentage will be 75%, not 50%.

As SnowShredder said, albino is recessive and jungle is co-dominant. Theoretically, statistically, you will get 50% Jungles, 25% normals, and 25% "super" Jungles - all 100% het for albino.

If your jungle is nice, it's not a bad pairing actually. One more generation and you can have albino jungles!

Personally, I'd stay with the jungle - if it's a good one (pictures??). Jungles have TONS to offer genetically and I think the future will be more favorable to jungles than sunglows. But breed what you like and like what you breed!! The choice is up to you! ;)

Btw, if your albino is a coral, you'd need to make sure that your hypo is het for coral albino. The coral trait is polygenic which means it isn't strictly inheritable. You'll only keep the fantastic color of the coral albino if it comes from both parents.

Jungle x Albino should produce, theoretically,
    50% jungles het for albino
    50% normals het for albino
There will not be any "super" jungles, you need to breed jungle x jungle to get supers.

It really depends on what you want to produce. If you want albinos then you need another albino or a het albino. Anything else will produce 100% het albinos (and whatever the female is but all would be het).

That jungle is very low expression, I'd personally go for a more jungle-y pattern. It also appears young and would be 3ish years away from breeding

Ok thanks I will probably put her on here for sale when I get home and get an older hypo het albino so I can get sunglows.

D'oh!!! I was thinking the albino male was also a Jungle! I must've misread that - and it was late last night when I was typing away. Thanks for the correction! :D

I have to agree about the Jungle. She is quite nice, but not breeding quality for you unless you were a) indeed pairing her with another jungle or b) you knew her lineage and she has the capability of producing extreme jungles or c) you knew her lineage and she was 100% het for albino.

As far as what to get in her place, you're already considering a hypo het albino. That's a good choice, but if you can afford it, you might consider starting with a sunglow. You'd produce 50% albinos and 50% sunglows. With a hypo het albino, you'd get 25% normals het albino, 25% hypos het albino, 25% albinos, and 25% sunglows.

**Thanks again for the correction above! Can't believe I missed that one..... :rolleye2:

Same here, didn't want the OP getting confused.

Did you say he's a lipstick?? He does have some unusual pink in there. If he's a lipstick, then yes, I think he'll be a good choice for breeding.

Make sure you find your jungle girl a good home........ :gj:

Ah - I thought he was a lipstick so I was wondering about the pink splashes on him. If he's a coral, even better - he'll color up even more as he grows.

But if you get an albino or het albino girlfriend for him, make sure she's also coral so the babies will carry on the trait. Your male will produce albinos so long as he's paired with another Kahl, but he won't necessarily pass on the coral trait unless the female is one, or is het for coral, too. :gj:
