    My new hobby
Just got into leatherwork. It's an expensive startup as with just about any hobby, but it's really fun. I've found it helps me relieve stress and relax after a long day. Here's my first project I did with my girlfriends tools.

And I got my own startup kit today and messed around with a few little things

That sheath came out nice! Seems like a decent hobby. If you get good enough at it you can sell extra stuff you make. :gj:

That's cool & came out nice with that sheath! I did leather crafts in 4-H for several years but haven't for quite a while...might have to get back into it, seeing that. Look forward to seeing what you make in the future.

Not sure where you got that stuff but Tandy Leather shows two factories in Oklahoma (http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/d...eid=OK&p_city=).

Might not be a good thing though...I always buy less if I get it on-line since I pay shipping than if I go to the store in person, lol!

Yeah, I was up in Oklahoma City today and happened to stumble upon the store there, and got all this stuff today! Went ahead and got a gold memberships I save a little money. Depending on how much I buy I may step up to platinum. But I've definitely found my new favorite store! Smells incredible in there!

Wouldn't be much of a leap to start making holsters...Don Hume, Bianchi, etc. beware, lol! Nothing beats the smell of leather...except maybe gun smoke...and bacon. Hahahahaha!

I have a couple holsters I'm working on and incorporating my badge number into. I'll post pics of it when I get done.

Did anyone else read the title as "My New Hubby" and then got surprised upon reading the actual post?

I dont know how one does this but the tools look as if this would be time consuming.

You did a nice job on the holster though!

It's really time consuming. Definitely little by little! And thanks! I'm going to make another one soon and see if I can do any better.

Very nice! I haven't tried the paint yet, is it hard?

The paint isnt hard. The Cova color is really thick so you dont have to multi layer much. Just a really slow process like the tooling. Alot of different cheap paint brushes are good. I will buy nice ones when I get better at the color. This wasn't very 3D because I did it on lightweight 2-3oz bookbinding leather. It would be very teadious to fill in all the depth with a 6-7oz or more.

Cool deal! I'll have to try it. I just made my first thing for a "customer". One of my good friends I met in CLEET. He wanted a dark stain.
