When to switch to one hide?
I have my female lesser in a 16 qt tub she is about 500 grams and she has outgrown her hides. She still uses them but they sit on top of her the problem is both hides barely fit in there anyway! So is it ok to put one large hide in there or do I need to upgrade the tub to accommodate two hides???

    great hides.
I picked up three, they are inexpensive and very nice.

    Get bigger tubs.

I personally don't use hides at all in my racks. I use several sheets of newspaper for a substrate and if they feel the need to hide they have no problems going under the paper.

If you give her 1 large hide.

Will the hide equally cover the warm and cool side of the tub?

I wouldn't make her choose between self regulating body temperature and feeling secure.

If the tub is in a rack, she may be fine with no hides at all. But one hide is also good in a rack tub where the snake feels secure enough to bask in the cool when it wants.

BPs will take a hide over temp anytime, so as 3skulls said make sure if you move to one hide that she'll be able to be on the hotspot or not if she chooses. However when in hides Ball Pythons do like to be as snug as possible, so it'd probably be better to get a bigger tub where you can still fit two larger hides.

Agree with bigger tub or cage, 2 hides. Great looking snake by the way!

I've never really understood the need for multiple hides. If I use any, I use 1, and I put it on the warm end. If your snake would rather hide on the cooler end it will move the hide. I've seen it done many times!

I have one hide for smaller balls in the middle of tub water on cool end. Big snakes no hide no provlems. In 28 qt tubs. If I had bigger tubs I might have two but some of my snakes sit on top of hides any way. All mine eat great also if you put paper in tubs they will hide under it if they want to.
