I agree with Pit, boat works I have to be drugged up with tranquilizers to fly cross country let alone halfway across the world. But that would be the absolute coolest thing ever! When I was a kid my dream was to meet Steve Irwin and work at his zoo. Then he died, and I was rather upset.

There is a lot of flying on this trip. Besides the round trip across the ocean, there are two or three in-country flights as well, from one city to the next. And, of course, everyone has to get themselves to LA for the start of the trip. But dang, Rob! I would have been cool to have a buddy to fly out of San Antonio with!

I've flown to Australia before (direct from LA - Sydney in '92), and it was actually a very nice flight! Also VERY long, but they gave us a fake night-time, along with 3 meals and a couple of movies. I don't really get the whole fear of flying, though, so I guess this is irrelevant to you two.

Anyway, I've been wanting to go back ever since - and this would be one heckuva way to do it! Sadly, I lack both the money and time right now. :(

Covers everything but food, starting in LAX. Sharing a room saves a few hundred dollars, but my bet is that it's full now - I was #11 yesterday morning.

Surprised there were any slots left. I saw the original facebook post too and was wishing I had cash. I'm betting if this becomes an annual thing then the slots will go almost instantly, as people will have saved up for it. Congrats to those going, I'll just have to join the ranks of the insanely jealous for a year or two, lol.

Anyone still interested should definitely try to go for it. Brian hasn't started taking deposits yet, so it's quite possible that when "committed" folks actually have to plunk down some serious cash, they may find themselves unable to do so, and slots may open up to others. The best shot to go on the trip this year would be to get on the list, even if the original 12 spots are currently spoken for. (I don't know for sure if they are, just saying "IF".)

So if this opportunity is screaming your name, don't give up before you try! ;)
