Removed from the Oaklahoma twister thread
I am the creator the the video that is in question, and would like to respond to the rampant ignorance that has surrounded its removal from this forum. "GOD HAS A PLAN" is the IRONIC title of the video, as I am an antitheist, and do not think that "god" has any "Plan" in the slightest. I'm not fishing for an argument. I am making one. The argument is "If god has a plan, and natural disaster is part of that plan, then he is not worthy of praise." That is all. To ban someone for posting this video on your forum shows the short-sighted kind of censorship that we have all come to know so well. Everyone should be free to post their opinions in ANY forum. Not just some quarantine page. We all grieve for the people lost to this tragedy. But it is US who grieve. We are the humans who will rebuild, and lift up those affected by it to greater heights. We share their tears, because we know that this is the only life we live. Credit god for killing those people. But credit PEOPLE for coping, sharing, loving, uniting, and embracing. No one heard the prayers of those who were crushed by flying and falling debris! Yet WE hear them, and do all we can to save them from death. We are all in this together. That is what the video meant to show, and it makes me sad to see so many people opposed to that sentiment, ready to hand over to god the credit for saving or soothing, when it was (as christians believe) god who caused the whole thing. Live the rest of your lives in peace, folks. And to the people effected by the tornado in Moore - WE are with you. The PEOPLE feel your pain. WE will help you rebuild, witness your tears, and learn from your loss. You are not alone.

It was not the video we objected to. In fact, it remains posted in off topic in another thread.
I, personally, objected to the disrespectful way it was posted in this thread in order to disrupt what had been a thread dedicated to expressing good will messages and checking fellow members were ok.
There are times and places for arguments - this thread at this time is not one of them. Do you gatecrash memorial services to point out the person was no better than most and still owed you $10? Both could be regarded as facts yet both are still wildly inappropriate in that time and place by standard social conventions.
The person who was infracted was first told to post it somewhere else and was only infracted when he disregarded that request and reposted it in this thread for a second time. In short he was infracted for being an insensitive, stubborn and offensive person in this instance. What he has (or others have ) been telling you about it I have no idea.
Can this be the end of this matter?

The person who posted the link was TEMPORARILY banned for disrespect to staff and site after saying he didn't care about an administrator's decision to pull the video and invited him to post it elsewhere.
He has no one and nothing to blame for his temp ban but his own actions. To blame his banning on a video is a deflection of the real issue.
And if he contacted you to tell you that he got banned because of the CONTENT of your video, in order to get you to join and rally behind him, then he is a liar.
His Actions led to his accumulating enough points to earn him a vacation from the site.
I have little sympathy for those who refuse to suck it up and be accountable for their own actions.

Nobody gives a rats patootie whether you're a follower of atheism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism or the cult of Cthulhu. The original poster of your video was NOT banned for posting your video, he was banned for reposting it several times in this thread after ignoring a request by one of the site owners to repost it in a more appropriate spot. This thread is about showing concern for the people who went through this disaster including several people who are members here. Thankfully many of them have checked in to tell us they're okay. There are still many dead though thankfully not as many as were first thought. Several of the dead are children. You used this fact in a video espousing your personal beliefs and as a way of mocking God and religion and though I find it repugnant, I also believe you have the right to do so IN THE APPROPRIATE PLACE. However, it's being posted in THIS THREAD is highly inappropriate. I think your inability to see that speaks volumes about your character.

Re: Oklahoma twister
Look, I completely understand your want to remove any content that is posted on this forum. As an administrator, you are of course free to discriminate between which posts follow a thread, and which would be better off posted elsewhere. I don't ever expect a link to one of my videos to survive on any forum, because it is beyond my purview to dictate what should, and should not be allowed.
Now, in response to your comment:
This member of your forum did not contact me in any fashion. If you click the "graph" icon beneath my video, you are directed to places that the video has been posted online. Youtube provides links to their content providers when their videos are imbedded, or linked to on another site. I did not contact this user, and this user made no attempt to contact me. I came to this forum because of the link on my video, and decided to post because, well, of the defamatory nature with which my video was handled, and because I too own a ball python. Her name is charlie.
You did not simply, or respectfully respond, but with contempt - removed the video link - Here is what you said "Hi,
Let's try and keep the obviously fishing for a response and argument crap the heck off a thread intended to deal with a tragedy in a responsible manner eh?
Go post that rubbish in the quarantine room if you must.
dr del"
Now, the manner in which you responded to this link is clearly not benign, or civilized. Not to mention that the consolation of being allowed to post in a quarantine room, is segregation which administrators must grant permission for your membership to view. This member posted this video as another means of bringing people together. That is the message of the video. And had you viewed that, you would have clearly seen that human hands are the ones moving rocks and steel off of piles of rubble. Guided by our own empathy, and desire to help one another. Again, you are the admin here. Neither myself nor any other member should dictate what is written or responded to within these walls. But, I urge caution. We must attempt to understand a thing, before summary judgement appeals to a misguided opinion about that thing.

You're just a brick wall aren't you? When you signed up you agreed to give them full control in different words.
If you aren't happy about it, you can whine some more but it won't do anything to change the situation.

Re: Oklahoma twister
Your short-sighted nature must be a terrible weakness for you. Not giving a "rat's patooie" about someone's religious affiliation was not at issue here. Your observation about my character is however, quite correct. It does indeed show character to repel the godly and take responsibility for one's actions, and not pass it off on an obviously fantastic character so he can again make you clean. This tragedy was and currently is being attended to by human hands. The only thing your god can take the credit for is "creating" the reality that made that tornado possible. That sir - is the most repugnant position of all. People from Moore have responded to the video in comments, as well as my facebook page. They are comforted that PEOPLE are donating to the red cross, and will soon be doing whatever else is needed for the people suffering through this event. The difference between you and me, is that I will do it for the love of my fellow man, and you will do it for the pretense of penitence.

Re: Oklahoma twister
I'm sorry, are you responding to me? I believe I said that exactly and concisely in the response I just posted. I'm not whining. This is called making your opinion known. I don't labor under the delusion that my opinion here garners any weight at all. My video was maligned, and I came to its defense. Seems a pretty simple response to me.

Hi,
I have split this content off to allow for discussion without disrupting the original thread any further.

I do know what I said - in the context of the original thread I felt your video was posted in an attempt at trolling for reactions not as any attempt to be constructive. That may be your message in the video but it most certainly was not the response it was going to get or the intent of the person who posted it. This is why I responded in the tone I did. I have no interest in any religions but I do feel that situations like the loss of life incurred in this tragedy should be discussed with dignity and respect to those involved. Civilized behaviour is best defined as following and respecting the social conventions of the social group you belong to. I can assure you I am quite civilised to the extent I consider others feelings before acting or speaking. :)
As I tried to explain earlier - it was wildly inappropriate in that thread and at that time. Do you not see that there are times where expressing your opinion is a rude and unacceptable breach of basic human decency?
Try and fathom the ineffable all you like but there are times when the human thing to do is to say " I'm sorry for your loss" and keep the ruminations to yourself. This was one of them and the poster instead used your video to try and cause disruption not peace or understanding.
Your video remains posted in this very section where it is visible to all who have internet access.
I am glad you were not brought here through the actions of others though. And feel free to post up a thread showing off Charlie.

It's a little unfair to dismiss all other motivations for others actions aside from the worst based purely on their religion. Once might almost say intolerant in fact. Why can't a Christian be as nice a person as you are?

TBH the video content was maligned because of the surrounding situation. I am ambivalent towards dynamite but exceedingly against it when someone lights the fuse on a stick and tries to post it through my letterbox.

I imagine you're a member on quite a few forums, probably for the same reason you joined this one? 'Following your video' and trying to spread your beliefs.
No one complained about your video, no one cares. What people care about is the context in which it was used. Your video is more than welcome in the quarantine area-due to it's religious nature. Although, it's shameful you feel the need to shove your anti-religious beliefs down people's throats. I don't believe in organized religion, but you don't see me going around poking fun at people that do. People have their reasons for believing, let them, at least those people will forgive you for your ignorance.

Re: Removed from the Oaklahoma twister thread
That's the greatest oxymoron I've ever seen about atheist.
"Hey, you can't shove religious agendas and views down my throat! But, here's my atheist agenda and views so I can shove them down your throat about how wrong you are!"
Take an axe to your high horse and move on. If you think religion should shut up; do so yourself.

I don't understand why people like the OP get all this kindness handed to them again and again. The guy wants to be thick. He wants to think you banned the other idiot because of the video. He's been told at least half a dozen times that wasn't the case. Cool, he's too stupid to see the truth when it bites him on the nose. We've seen that before. What I'd like to see is the door hitting this assclown on the crack on his way out.
No further explanations are necessary. If he really is too stupid to understand what he's been told, then further telling will not yield different results and if he, like the dimwit that got his suspension for acting like a spoiled child, has other intentions then continued interaction simply feeds his needs.
There's nothing to see here folks, just move along. Idiots to the left of me, clowns to the right...

Re: Removed from the Oaklahoma twister thread
Jeez... the only thing worse than proselytizing Christians is proselytizing Atheists... isn't there s point when it can be assumed that we've grown up enough that we can make up our own minds and no longer need some rabid believer (or non, as the case may be) shoving their views down our throats?

Makes insensitive 'ironic' video in response to a tragedy -> follow where it was linked -> make account to 'clear the air' and post what reads a whole lot like religious fanaticism.
Obvious troll is obvious.
I guess I'd rather have people / mods try to talk it out (take the bait) than just ban haphazardly. Thanks mods and people :gj:
