Loxahatchee Rodents: Best in the Frozen Feeder Biz!
Just want to give a shout out and plug to Loxahatchee Rodents out of Florida. I have ordered from them a few times now and the frozen feeders are always VERY clean, well packaged, stated weight, and shipping is much more reasonable than other frozen feeder sites I have received quotes from. They always arrive frozen solid...even with a 3-day UPS ship from Florida to Minnesota. I just could NOT be happier! Also, every time I emailed them a question, they responded quickly and were more than happy to answer all my questions. They also have mice :gj:.

My last order, which I received today, consisted of 40 weaned rats and 50 fuzzy rats. With shipping, it breaks down to ~ $1.45 per feeder. VERY affordable. It may not be the solution for a single snake, but I only have a small collection of four at the moment and frozen feeders are difficult to come by where I live...

    Webstore: http://www.loxahatcheerodents.com/estore/

Here is my order from today. The proof is in the pictures:

Whole Order: 2x20 Weaned Rats & 2x25 Fuzzy Rats

I LOVE Loxahatchee. I've ordered from them several times and they are the cleanest and most neatly packed feeders I have ever gotten.

I agree 100% with everyone. I don't have any experience with any of the other frozen food vendors, but I will definitely continue to do business with Loxahatchee as long as I can keep spelling their name correctly.

I use them every time I need to buy mice for my corn snakes. I'm always impressed with their packaging and the mice are always clean and soft (I've ordered from other companies and the fur is mangled, discolored, or greasy). The rodents always arrive on time and frozen and they are GREAT with communication. I ordered during a hurricane and even though my order had to ship out a few days later due to flooding, the owners would call or e-mail several times just to keep me informed. Love this company and will continue to get my mice from them.

They also sell ASF if you need those ;)

Exactly! We recently moved from South Dakota back to Minnesota and not wanting to miss a shipment, I picked up a couple feeders from a local pet store to tie the kids over until we moved into our new place, and two of them refused them! They were greasy and overall I wasn't impressed. Whenever I open the vacuum bags from Loxahatchee, they feel like they sent them to the salon before shipping them. Super clean and super soft!

One of the members over at another forum has been to their facility and said their breeding rooms are just as clean as the mice/rats they ship, they don't cut corners when it comes to their colony's cleanliness and health, and won't even let people into their breeding facility. I can't sing their praises enough!

If you haven't ordered from them, look them up and tell them Shawn sent you...:gj:

Have you ever ordered from Big Cheese? I have seen that company suggested on this site, and wondered if anyone could directly compare the two. I am attempting to find a site where I can order frozen feeder for my BP, and there are a number of sites out there. It seems that Big Cheese and Loxahatchee Rodents are comparable when it comes to price per feeder and shipping.

I will also check out the next reptile expo that comes to town, but as I am finding out now, the timing may not always work out. I just fed my last fuzzy rat to my BP yesterday, and the next reptile expo is towards the end of the month.

I have not not ordered from Big Cheese but I have ordered from other online feeder sites and have found Loxahatchee to be the best, IMHO. Just good, clean feeders. I am kind of a creature of habit. When I find something good I usually stick to it and don't change and when it comes to my animals, I always want the best. I am not willing to experiment with others at this point.

The biggest problem I had with Big Cheese is that I couldn't place my order, and pay for it, all online. They gave pricing information, but need to call or email to make an order. With Loxahatchee, I am seeing that everything can be done online, and then just wait for delivery.

Now I just need to decide what size I want, and how many to order to make it worth paying the $40+ for shipping. I don't know of any local places that I can get smaller rats (i.e. fuzzies or pups) from, and I fed my last fuzzie last night. If I can find just a couple to get me to the 22nd, I can buy a bunch at the reptile expo, and not have to pay shipping at all.

Any other friends that keep snakes have any they can loan you? Otherwise Loxahatchee ships every Monday. Orders need to be in by Saturday night I believe so they know how much dry ice to order Sunday. Shipping is usually quick.

None of my friends keep snakes, so that is a no go. I just picked up and fed him a good sized mouse. Someone suggested that he would do fine without until the reptile show in 2 weeks. However, I decided to get a mouse for tonight, and then MAY skip next weeks meal, and then feed him again in 2 weeks after the reptile show. If I can't find the size rat that I need at the show, I will then order some online...likely from Loxahatchee.

Yeah, when shipping alone is $270, I'm gonna have to pass.

How much were you buying that shipping was $270? I usually pay $40-$50 for shipping and I buy enough feeders to last me 6 months or more.

x2. Are you talking about Loxahatchee?!? I stock up and "fill the box" and have never seen a rate that high. How much were you ordering? May have been a calculation flub, but every order I have ordered from them their shipping has been much less than others I have ordered from in the past.

In his previous post, he was talking about rodent pro, so I am guessing the $270 shipping price was with them...although I could be wrong about that. Either way, the large shipping cost still could have been caused by a huge order.

I order from RodentPro in a pinch, and have never seen a single box cost more than $60 shipping (usually $45-55).

I just made a purchase from them. 100 mice pinks and 100 fuzzy mice; haven't yet received them as I just placed the order yesterday but after reading all of the posts on here, it made it an easy decision. I've purchased from American Rodent Supply as well as Rodent Pro, either on-line or at shows, if not both and haven't been overly impressed with either. ARS for their packaging and quality of feeder and Rodent Pro for their prices and again, quality of animals. Just my two cents, so interested to see how Loxahatchee goes and the quality of their animals. Shipping and the total for all of the feeders was less than $100 for everything, so hopefully the quality is as good as everyone says and I can stick with them for future orders.

I guarantee you won't be disappointed. Yes, I am very passionate about Loxahatchee and no they don't pay me ...maybe they should. JK. They ship every Monday as they get their dry ice in on Sunday (I believe). Even the 3-day from Florida to MN all my feeders have arrived frozen solid and a nice big chuck of dry ice still evaporating to show my kids some neat things with dry ice. Let us know how it goes...

Hahahaha! You never know, they might start sending you feeders as payment, lol! Regardless, I'm looking forward to getting these in. I'd trust someone's hands-on experience over catchy marketing any day. I'll be sure to post my results once I get my order in and see what my animals think of them as well, lol!
