Babies Resemble Mom, Is It Genetic?
Ok, so I have asked about this girl before, but now that she has produced a clutch and some of the babies came out with her traits, is it genetic?

So you're asking about the banding?

unfortunately I don't really see too much going on... Do you have any pics of them not curled in a ball? It might help see a pattern or something, but honestly they just look normal to me...

The banding and the odd random dots inside the alien heads.

I think she looks a lot like a gravel. If you look at the second pic on this^ forum page, you can see a pic of a gravel.

Edit - csagen - I don't right now. I am going to wait until they shed and get some better pics.

That normal is really cool! It's really granitey. You could always breed one of the males (that you think looks like mom) back to her.

I'm seeing some granite features too. x2 on breeding one of the little resemblance-boys back to Mom, see what happens! (Particularly that normal, if it's male, but that's just because graniting is one of my favorite variations.)

Can we see a group shot with all of them together? Maybe in some indirect sunlight?

I do like that little normal! Very pretty. :P

I see nothing that looks like granite or anything beyond what wild type ball pythons do.
They vary tremendously even in a clutch.

I think I am going to hold all the babies back that look like her, only problem is that, as of now, I think they are all female. Hoping one turns out to be a male.

I am going to wait until they shed and then get some group shots outside and some better individual shots. I'll update this thread when I do.

    Thanks everyone for the input.

There are quite a few things I have noticed that the babies in question have in common with mom. Especially the normal hatchling. There are the alien heads that loop over the back, the random dots inside the alien heads, the normal has the head stamp a lot like mom, it is hard to tell from the pics but mom has the black speckling like the normal baby. Also, you can't tell from the pics but the two mojaves with the wild patterns are brighter than the other two. the lighting in my building washed the colors out in all the photos.

I am going to take a ton of pics once they shed out so you all should be able to see more of what I see soon.

That's a bummer! Hopefully you'll find a male when you pop them again! If you think it's worth it, you should. People told me my dinker project wasn't worth it, and look what I got :) I'm still trying to prove it as genetic, but it's a fun project for sure! My "Orange Thing"

I like your "orange thing" and if you look on MLR's page, Orange Thing isn't unlike many of the extremely expensive dinkers MLR is selling. Headspot and belly of Mom of the mojave clutch is neat and reason enough to keep her - i would breed her to a yellowbelly if not back to her son, its unlikely you have all females and just probably aren't popping correctly, I have had several "all female" clutches until i got them probed lol. First baby is so granitey its ridiculous.

Whoa whoa ? Why are you making allegations against me? I have never even sold a "dinker" and never would I sell one at a ridiculous price. I am very reasonable with the few animals I have sold in the past and I think you should do your research Instead of just talking out of your @$$ next time.
