Different light would be helpful but it appears to be a killer. There is a bit of a band of color though and different light would really help.

I'd say its a killer, the head is really bald and you have the blue coming through where the eyes are. Also, the cut egg pic screams killer bee. I'd say get some better light and take some more pics of it. Although, I have yet to hatch out any bumblebees or KBs as my first breeding year will be 2014.

Killer bee!! See how much more distinct the head markings are on a bumblebee:

I would say Killerbee also. Not enough black contrast to be just a bee.

I second this ^^, but judging the egg picture and head pattern, I'm saying Killerbee. That head is way more washed out and clear than a typical bumble bee. Looking forwar to new pics :D

I'm no pro, but that head looks killer not bumblebee to me. But agree, lets see more pics in better light.

My vote is for Killerbee. I can't imagine just a straight up Bumblebee having a head that clear.

    I vote killer bee because
    1. the black pattern is faded
    2. the head pattern is extremely reduced
    3. there's a lack of yellow pigment (even though the pictures might not show that last one as much)

again, more pics would help! nice snake either way!

Judging by the head, even in the first pics I'd say it's a killer

Just out of curiosity how did u get an awesome killer bee out of pastel and bee? I'm still learning. But I thought the pastel would have to be super?
  • 05-28-2013, 11:47 AM
    MrLang
Each parent gives 1/2 of their genes to the baby split right down the middle. A super just means you guarantee 1 copy of pastel because either half has a copy. 100% of the babies get 1 copy of pastel. You can still only get a single copy per parent. The bumble bee has 1 copy of pastel so when you split it down the middle, only 50% of the babies get the pastel. Bumble Bee x Pastel gives a killer because the 50% chance from one parent overlapped with the 50% chance from the other parent.

Ok I think I understand, I guess I have a lot more to learn about genetics

The head isn't as big of a tell for me as the color of the black. It's a killer bee just to answer.

This is a Bumblebee. Notice the color of the black

This is a Killer bee enchi. But notice the color of the "Black"
    http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/h...e/DSC_0978.jpg

The head get really wiped out from the enchi on this one.

As they get older it becomes really easy because bumble bees brown out where killer bees don't ,now there's always exceptions and some hold bright yellow much mire as they age but in general

I'm on the killer bee bandwagon as well. The bleached head and faded black markings give that one away. :)
