    Could He Eat Rat Pups?
Hey everybody, I'm about to order some rat pups for my G. Stripe (166g) and I was wondering if my normal could also eat rat pups? I don't want to buy two different sizes. I'm giving him 1 fuzzy a week right now.

Heres a photo of him. He is about 120g. He is also a feisty little guy. Good eater, though.

Eh, he might be able to. What size are the fuzzies you're offering? You can offer both food every 5 days. Are the pups you're ordering around 20 grams?

Yes, RodentPro.Com says the pups from there are about 20-29.9g. What do you think? I just don't want him to try to eat it and hurt himself.

EDIT: Just to be sure, is RodentPro a reliable seller for rodents? Are there any better ones out there? Let me know, please.

I still say yes, and I order from RP as well as Layne Labs and recommend each (you can order smaller quantities from LL)

Using the 15% logic yes he can eat rat pups. I'm pretty sure my hog nose weighs less than the ball python and eats rat pups weekly without issue. You would be amazed what can fit in that little mouth lol

x2 to Layne Labs. From what I understand their quality is much higher (They're USDA certified and supply zoos and sanctuaries) and have fewer/no parasites/mites that Rodent Pro has been known to carry.

I wouldn't feed a 120g snake a rat pup, but that's just me. If he takes them he takes them.

I just checked out Layne Labs. Definitely more convenient. Would rat fuzzies be more suitable for my 120g? I don't want to take any chances of buying something he won't eat.

I order from rodent pro every 6 moths, works great for me. And rat pups would be fine just pick the smaller ones

Could feed him fuzzies, just up the number/frequency until they're all gone. If you get 10, then he'll be ready for pups by the time those run out.

Ordering 25 pups and 10 fuzzies. Will my 166g be ready for the next step when the pups run out?

The 166g can take pups now, they're within the 10-15% guidelines. When the pups run out, he should be, it depends on how fast your normal ends up on them and how often your g-stripe eats. That young they'll probably both eat every time. Weans run 30+ grams, he might even be able to handle smalls (40+) if we're assuming Layne Labs here.
