One egg extremely deflated at day 55, should I cut?
like the title says, it is day 55 and I don't have any pips yet, but one of the eggs looks very deflated compared to the others and I am starting to get worried. Anyone think I should cut? Incubation temp has been 88.8-89.2

It's probably about to pip on it's own. Mine all collapse somewhat a few days before pipping - something to do with the shell softening to make it easier for them to cut through.

They have all collapsed some but this one has wrinkled up so much that it looks like it is about half the size of the others. I'll take a pic on my lunch break.

When you take the pic, candle it to make sure it still looks good internally, too.

I candled it last night and still saw veins and pretty sure I saw movement but it was hard to tell since it wasn't letting much light through the egg.

How long has it been deflated?

Probably about 2 weeks now. About a week before the others started to collapse. But it has only looked really deflated for about 4-5 days now.

Since I normally cut eggs when they are close to piping, I would cut it especially if I would be worried about it :). But it's only my opinion so if you don't feel comfortable doing it, just don't :).

Here are the pics of the eggs. Sorry it took so long, didn't get by the house on my lunch break.

I don't know if cutting will do any good, or if it would do any harm. With the little moisture left inside that egg, it has a chance of drying out if you cut... At those incubation temps, they should be pipping any time now, anyway.

I would have cut them all by now, as I cut on day 52 or 53, but only a small triangle.

Day 55 is fairly early for them to pip on their own so I wouldn't worry about that. Also, the eggs should get pretty deflated by the end, that's perfectly natural. The one egg that is really deflated is the only one that looks odd to me, but I'm still not sure it's something to be concerned about.

Well curiosity got the best of me... I cut all the eggs. The baby in the egg I was worried about looks a little small but fine other than that. The rest look fine as well, and so far it looks like I have 1 definite mojo, 1 possible mojo, 1 definite normal, and 2 unknown.

Pics or it didn't happen! :gj: Glad it was okay. My first clutch this year started pipping on day 55, which is a little earlier than typical, but not impossible (obviously). It sounds like that egg just had more room to collapse around the littler baby.

I tried to get a good pic of each egg with flash and without.

Egg 1 - This was the extremely collapsed one and it turned over when I went back with the camera. Pattern and color is visible now and looks like a mojave to me. What do you all think?

Egg 2 - This one flipped over so I could see it's pattern too. Was thinking mojave on this one too.

Egg 3 - This is the one I thought was a possible mojave and now I think so even more.

Egg 4 - This is the one I am pretty positive is a mojave.

Egg 5 - This is the one I am pretty positive is a normal. I could see its back really well earlier today and it was a lot more brown than the others.

Nothing like seeing that little head pop out for the first time. Never get tired of it!

Sucks I wasn't home to see the babies start poking there head out but it's great to have a mom who loves snakes and can help keep an eye on them while I am out of town.
