Uh Oh.. :(

OK.. well my girl had her eggs on Sunday.....but it seems she has one more inside of her....(at least it looks as big as her eggs)........... :( So.. how long do i wait before taking her to a VEt... do I wait? are there things I can do to help her get it out? Any 2 Cents would be WONDERFUL....

I would give her 7 days... Maybe schedule a visit for next monday. Sorry to hear. :(
Did you palpate to feel if it is an egg still in there? You should easily be able to feel if it is. Is the bulge right by the vent?

It is no where near her vent... at least to me it isnt.... and you can see it...I soaked her in a warm tub last night.... I massaged her best i could.. even tickled right under where its at.. She hates it when I do that... haha! I have been reading up and its a little scary... Our town Vets will not touch snakes so Im going to have to go out of town. Can it be fixed or is there a chance I will loose her? :(

Hi,

Don't try and "massage it down" - you could end up rupturing her oviduct doing that.

Put the vet appointment on and try and keep her relaxed and well hydrated in the meantime.

Well...... here is an update.........

We took her in and the xtray showed an egg...... so the Vet.. who I really REALLY liked.... gave her a shot of oxytocin... we are giving her 48 hours... So if she doesnt pass it by tomorrow he will go in and aspirate *sp* the egg and hopefully it will come out. IF not then surgery is our final option.... I looked at her this morning and it doesnt look like it has moved down at all.... she was on her side last night.... poor thing is trying but man it looks huge now............... I had to go out of town for this Vet but he loves snakes... he was happy with how she looked..and he has performed surgery on many snakes......he said we got her there early enough and have time to try out the other options... SO keeping our fingers crossed.... Im hoping she passes it by tomorrow........


She is such a good snake...she was so good with him... and he even commented on her.............SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO... as funny as it may sound... I have put my lil girl on a prayer list...:please:

Well... her egg moved like a half an inch........so we are off to the Vets again today... She is very alert.. moving around... a lil irratated.... so I know she is in good spirits... lol........So lets hope step two is our last step to deal with..... :) here are some pics of her after her warm soak last night...

may I ask, was this her first time breeding? What was her weight?

Thank you :) This was her first time breeding yes. She was over 2000 grams when she locked with the daddyo..at the vet she was a lil over 1500 I believe. My son has decided no matter what if he breeds her again she will be double in size......I would rather not put her through this again.. she is my baby... lol and all of this sux! :) But she is very active and such a good girl...a strong girl...

If they have to do surgery on her, she'll most likely (99.9%) not be able to breed again... So sorry for her, but seriously, give her until Sunday or Monday.

yah he told us that.. and Im totally fine with that........ they are going to aspirate the egg today... I hope it comes out by itself after this.....:please: Do you think we are aspirating to soon?

That snake would be morbidly obese at 4000g. Size has nothing to do with the situation. Good luck today.

Forgot to mention what Annarose15 pointed out, too. Her size has NOTHING to do with it. It's just something that happened.

I would DEFINITELY wait until Monday before aspirating the egg...but that's me, not you. Monday would be the latest I would wait, though. It's definitely a tough decision to have to make.

Ok guys update time.. :)

First of all Im sorry.. I was seriously joking about her getting that big... guess that whats I get when I dont put the LOL's :)

Anyhow.. thank you all for your posts... We took what some of you said and went to the Vet with it. The egg has moved... not a whole lot but it has moved.... so we asked about waiting til monday and he said that would be fine... 8 days out and something about the egg starting to harden. So he gave her another shot... she is now back home... and will get a warm bath in a lil bit...and hopefully :please: this do the rest. Again thank you all very much. :)


Also she is pink under her belly....... would she shed?

I hope she gets it out! Please keep us posted.

well Akia did not pass the egg this weekend... :( She went to the Vet today, who again I really like, and he aspirated the egg...... well good thing is it shriveled up and you cant tell its in her. My son took her and said they had to use two tubes to get all the stuff out of it. SO lets hope she passes it.. she is not enjoying her warm baths like she should..... I tell her its for the best... but she aint having it..... hahahaha......:please:

I had this same thing happen last year to my 2000g normal female. Laid 5 eggs and retained one. I read all sorts of stuff and decided that after a week of it being stuck in there, to aspirate. I drained a whole bunch of the egg out of there and it looked much better instantly because it wasnt such a bulge in her. 2 weeks later we saw this:

'twas really gross but it came out all on its own. My girl started to eat before it came out so I don't know if poo helped it come out or what. But I do know she pooed the same time that the egg came out. Hang in there man. I'm sure it will be fine.

My girl FINALLY passed her stuck egg....... :) Even though the vet took a lot out when he aspirated it.... ITS still pretty big.... and kinda full......... Anyhow... I had to let you guys know.. Im soooooooooooooo happy its out...

Always good to get some practice! It won't be nearly as gross when its fertile eggs with babies about to pop out. :D

I'm glad you had a happy ending! I feel as though I need to have an egg aspirated from my female :( Not looking forward to it, but it might be necessary. It's been 5 days since she passed her last slug..

:( i know that feeling sucks.. BUT if you get it done soon enough Im sure all will go well like my story...........
