Anybody know a website that sells cheaper herpstats?

i wanted a herpstat 2 but if i cant find a cheap one, i guess ill have to buy a herpstat 1.

I really doubt it. A herpstat 1 or Herpstat Basic is good for most set-ups.

Why is it that you want a herpstat 2?

Unless you can find one used, I doubt you'll find new ones cheaper than what Spyder robotics prices them as.

I was thinking I could put an incubator next to my rack and use the same thermostat. I didnt want to have to buy another thermostat later :p but oh well i guess. Anyone know how often they make new herpstats? i dont want to buy one and have them make a new one in like 3 weeks lol.

I bought mine and they shipped it either that day or the day after. There's no wait time.

I would go ahead and shell out the extra money for the Herpstat 2. You may get another rack or something later that you can use it on. I recently bought a herpstat 2 and already I wish I had shelled out the extra $100 for a Herpstat 4.

Spyder Robotics typically has an Annual Sale around Thanksgiving. I believe it's around $185 shipped for a Herpstat 2. FWIW, the older Herpstat 2 used to be more expensive than this current generation. If my memory is correct, i paid around $230 shipped for the older generation, so they've actually lowered their price and made it more affordable. I don't own any other brands, so i couldn't comment on whether they would be good alternatives, but i've been very happy with the 3 herpstats that i have.

This is what I did. There was something wrong with the checkout on their site so they called one of their resellers gave him my name and got him to give me their sale price. Great customer service.

The Herpstat 2 is only $56 more right now, and the Herpstat 1 is sold out, so that might help your decision. ;)

They aren't cheap, that's why they're worth buying :gj:

Herpstat basic X 2 = $198

My personal preference is to have a thermostat for each rack and one for each incubator.

There is a difference between cheap and least expensive. Expandability and dependability generate a higher initial cost with a lower over time total. (2cents)

The herpstats are cheap. All the reptile thermostats are actually. early this year my work bought a dual zone proprtional thermostat. That is all just temp no features at all it was 395$ oh did I mention no probes either... They are only 100$ each so 600$ plus shipping insuracnce and taxes. 200$ for a dual zone thermostat is not expensive at all. The ecozone and herpkeeper are 100$ and 200$ more as far as that goes.

Agreed. We're very lucky to have a specialized piece of equipment for a reasonable price. All too often in niche hobbies the gear is massively expensive because of the small quantities being produced.
