Toads, Frogs, Salamanders - Oh My!

So as our collection grows, I thought I needed a new thread.

The newest addition came in today :)

Lets see your big set up too! Those always interest me, how do you feed the communial ones? Just drop in bunch of roaches every couple days

Don't have any pics of the whole tank. I'll get some pics up after we work on it. Got some new plants the other day :)

I give them dubia, slugs, snails, isopods and worms. I also throw them some crickets sometimes.
I'm going to make some new lids for their tank and hope to add some native tree frogs soon.

I see salamanders and different frogs all the time when I'm in swamp, not much colors on them tho an I'm not quick or crafty at catching them

I see softball sized bull frogs all the time, those were the only frogs I could catch when I was younger. Are your natives wild caught?

I hear bullfrogs at work but never see them.
Yeah all my native animals are wild caught.
Most of the ones I have kept have entered the building (at work) or have been in harms way.

Bull frogs rock just cuz they get big, not Packman size tho

Have you seen those Pixie Frogs?
Those things are huge!

Ya those are huge too ha can feed them rats

Got up and did some work on the "native" tank.
Added some plants (non native) but did get a couple of ferns from the woods.

Looking good! Much amphibian love. I especially love the toad; they make super-awesome captives.

Got me itching for a salamander now. I had a tiger sal years ago but was told that they are not legal to keep in NY. :(

The salamanders are cool but I never see them. Digging around today I found two of them.

I used to have a nice collection of peepers. Them my wife moved in..she did not find their call acceptable in the middle of the night. Anyway, Really nice collection you have. Not enough people show love to the natives :cool:

I love the setups you have, I recently did an overhaul on my terrarium and the only things I'm missing are a skull (thinking about a deer skull since there are TONS out at my dad's in the surrounding woods), a water bowl, and a critter xD

I have a tiger salamander that is going to be living with me for the winter. The boyfriend at some point didn't shut the garage door all the way and I found the little guy looking for water by the recycling. I would have just took him down to the creek but it has already started sowing here (BOO!)

I'm not sure if you ever said, but what kind of salamanders are these? I'm always interested in these odd amphibians and how to breed them.

I might have the scientific names in this thread somewhere.
I have Spotted, Jeffersons and 2 Lined.

I'm not sure how easy it would be to breed them. I'm guessing a "rainy season" and some type of pool for them to lay eggs.

They are really cool little animals but I never see them.
I might have seen 2 out of 8-10 in a years time. And that's having to dig a bit.
