What kind of carpet does this look like

I know that carpet genetics are muddied up and its hard to tell but what does this look like. The owner thought jungle I think iranian jaya what do you think and why

I have my seven footer in a 2x4x2 Rubbermaid with cross bars she hangs out on and a shoebox sized water bowl she submerges in. I need to build a better cage for her with better humidity controllability

Looks like a Diamond/Coastal intergrade to me. I prefer a 4x2x18 for my females. If you got the space, bigger is better with carpets. Nice looking snake by the way.

that's definitely not a pure coastal looks more like a jungle x coastal. but a 3ft enclosure isn't big enough for either. I would go 4x2ft and upgrade if needed.

looks to me like it has a lot of IJ or darwin in it judging by the colors........how long is it?

3x2x2 for adult coastals, IJ, and Jungles is completely perfect. Even 3x2x1.5 work with most. Can't see the image here, so can't comment to the species. But wanted to voice on the caging comments. Cheers

I thought coastals could get to like 10feet? A 3ft cage is ok for them still?

Coastals average 6-7 ft. 10' is on the extreme side that is only possible with some locales that are not readily available in the US and are hard to get even in Germany (quite easy to get in australia though :gj:). For these, a 3x2x2 is perfect. My Jag is growing out and is right at 6', and fattening up. She's in a 3x2x2 and roams it perfectly with adaquit perching provided. IJ can even be housed in 2x2x2 in SOME cases (males), some females will still need a 3x2x2 though since IJ even though most stay around 5' some can get quite beefy and even reach 8'. All of this is based on personal experience, the book "The Complete Carpet Python by Nick Mutton" and previous conversations I've had with Nick on this matter. Anthony over at ACReptiles pushes the same religion. He houses his in 3x2x1.5 (tall).

I would agree, a mix...

I have always gone with the 2/3 length rule for enclosure widths for adults. So if the average adult is around 6 feet (roughly), a 4' would be great. A good friend of mine who breeds coastals, jungles, and IJs (and whom I have purchased my JCPs from) uses the same rule. A 4x2x1 or slightly taller will usually work great. Though where I live, keeping humidity at a decent level in tall enclosures is an issue so I try to keep height on the lower end. My current JCP female is in an Animal Plastics T8 with a divider. A T10 would give you a 4x2x15", a T11 would give you a 4x2x18", and a T12 would give you a 4x2x24". I can adjust the divider to give her more room as she grows.

I plan on a 4' for my pure coastal girl when she's an adult (unless she turns out to be a monster).

coastals are usually around 8ft or so but that snake isn't a pure coastal I was just saying I would have that a 3x2ft for now and upgrade when needed. and no mike I certainly wouldn't have a big coastal in a 3x2ft it should be in a 4x3ft minimum.

Again, Anthony C. worked with AP to design a carpet cage that was ideal for Coastals, IJ, and Jungle that he uses for nearly all of his adults. It is 36" by 24" by 15" and I quote "Due to their thin nature, this is perfect for snakes up to 8'-9'" I know you guys want to give it the biggest thing possible, and that is fine. Just letting you know what the mark is for what is considered proper - not too big, nor too little. You can go wrong with too much space as a juvenile. Keeping that in mind, adults can live in fairly wide conditions cage size wise - but again, what has been found to be ideal is the size mentioned.

3x2 is too small for a carpet. A 4x2 is more suitable and the 3x3x3 you mentioned you might make would work as well.

A coastal could get to 10 feet but that's not common. It's like a human can grow to over 8 feet but you don't expect that to be the average. That's a big problem with lots of online care sheets. They sometimes given the minimum and maximum for sizes but don't always give the average so people expect bigger snakes then they will get.

Definitely coastal. She looks like my coastal and she's a jag sibling from AC reptiles. You gotta love carpets. She's a beautiful carpet.

I didn't read all of that, but I'm just going to throw out there, I wouldn't get anything more than 2ft deep. Anything more is a hassle to clean. Just think, you have to reach your arm to the back of the cage, which can be difficult, especially with a cage that only opens on the front. I have a T8 (4x2x1) for my adult BCI female, and cleaning it is a challenge since it is 2ft deep, only 1ft high, and only opens on the front.

My money is on coastal mix, I definitely think I see some diamond in there. She's a gorgeous girl!
