I went to look in the hides and he is gone. I am freaking out and need some help. I have read all of icemans posts trying to get some ideas. I have searched and searched. It happened yesterday morning. I feel horrible. Please pray and give me some more help. I have checked all my heat sources, drawers, and couches. My older son has been crying and I am about there. I am just about to tear my house apart (tonight) please help!!

Do you have a loose substrate? Perhaps he burrowed under and is hiding?

If not, check the immediate area of the tank within 10feet I think people say? Though I dunno if that still applies almost 48 hours later.

    It's happened to me also.

    * First, they usually don't go far. Hopefully that's the case with yours.
    * Second, they can fit in places you never dreamed of so look in places that you are 'sure' they couldn't go.
    * Third, start making some good hides for it. Take a small box, put it on a heat pad or somewhere warm against a wall on the floor. Do this with as many as you can. If you make the hides well, they'll eventually find one and like it enough to stay. Of course, keep the lights off & keep traffic in the area to a minimum.
    * Fourth, you can also try dragging a F/T mouse around the corners of the room up to one of the hides & leave it in. That worked for me.

    Good luck

Basicly they could be anywhere where they can fit their head through. First look around the immediate area. They will right away try and find a place to hide. At night put some baby power along the edges of all the walls and across all the door ways and hall ways. Then when the snake crawls across the power you can tell what way he was going and where he went to.

    Bp not a begginer snake?
I'm bumming pretty bad. Would anyone want to steal just a BP? We gave notion to the possibility that someone could have broke in and took it, but think thats its more likely he just got out.

    Hey,
Its very important to find out how he got out, so he dosen't get out again.
    Hope you find him.

My wife and I have no idea??? We have thought of just about everything. He was really secure in his home. I only hope I have the chance to use super glue with him next. JK! When is the longest someone has found their BP alive and well?

No luck this morning. I laid out 5 F/T rats around the house. I used baby powder to try and see if he is moving. Nothing so far.

Just don't give up. My last escapee got caught slithering across my foot late at night maybe 6' from his enclosure after going missing for two weeks or so.

Check up inside and behind things where you normally wouldn't think of looking for a lost something. Don't just look IN the drawers, but pull them out and look behind them. And behind the dressers and appliances. I saw a picture someone posted once on another forum...he'd found his lost snake wedged up behind the toilet! It was totally invisible from anywhere in the bathroom, unless you pressed your face to the wall and looked straight down behind the tank. Don't give up. The time of year helps, too. It's unlikely that he'll get dangerously cold like he might in the winter.

I wouldn't worry about him being ou to for to long since I know of a person that lost their snake and didn't find her until 5 months later when they decided to remodel their bathroom and she ended up under niethe the sink(almost under the house). She was just fine and returned to her home.

    good luck

Last night at 2:00 am my wife and I were awakened to a cabinet door closing. I jumped out of bed and ran around like a mad man. I looked in the upstairs bathroom and there he was. I was amazed. He made it up the stairs and into a place we have all been in many times since his escape. I picked him up, boy was he jumpy. He seemed a bit startled. I got him back in and fed him. He ate like a champ, 3 F/T rat pups.

I noticed his behavior was strange. His poture was different than I have ever seen before. He was a little scratched up, a couple scales seemed to be really rough. I am going to let him be for the next two days and then take him out and inspect him more. Thanks for everyones help.

    Any suggestions??

I'm SOOO happy you found him!! Sounds like he may have crawled through some really tight spots. I think you've got a good plan, to let him relax a couple days (especially since he just ate a big meal) but then inspect him to make sure there are no open wounds that need tending. If it's just roughed up scales, that'll probably clear up after the next shed or two. After you've checked him over and made sure he doesn't have any wounds that need your attention, I would leave him completely alone for a week or so. He may need to re-acclimate to his enclosure...or at least de-stress from his adventures.

Yay! Congratulations! I am so happy for you that you found him. That's the first time I've heard of a ball python being found on a higher floor of the house than his enclosure, I think. Now scold him and lock him up tight. :)
