    Atomic Gene - WOW!
I'm sure lots of you have seen these pictures come up on worldofballpythons.com, but for those of you that haven't take a look!

    https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...18439724_n.jpg

Mike Wilbanks is the only one working with it that I know of, but correct me if I'm wrong!

It looks like it makes a paradox snake. That's an atomic queen bee, and see how you can see distinct pastel, lesser, and queen bee patterns and colors scrambled throughout. That's one exciting snake!

I saw this on FB today and was floored. I SO want to work with this gene someday. I just want to wait until it won't cost an arm and two legs. :P

    Check this out:

    http://thereptilereport.com/the-atomic-gene/

That links back to a discussion with video and pictures of lots of other wacked out atomic combos. Really cool genetics going on there!

I don't have a lot to add to this thread other than the fact that my jaw hit the floor when I saw this morph!:O I can't wait to see what all it can do!

damn, this website "http://t hereptilerepo rt.com/the-atomic-g ene/" wont load in ages. (Spaces added so you dont waste time.) The whole website is affected, i guess it just contains too many banners and ads that refuse to load or that load extremely slowly, and is set to load the banners and ads first.

and if it finally does load, it only contains a link and no further info. Pointless. The link leads to a forum thread that links to one video, and some images that only Facebook-users can see. The forum thread is also extremely slow. The only relevant picture in the facebook album is the one posted in this thread and on WOBP anyway.

this is it: "http://w ww.reptileradio.net/ball-pyt hon-morphs/45099-m ke-wilbankss-atomi c-true-co-dom.html" (again, spaces added because i dont link to crap that doesnt work and only loads if you try with 10 tabs using different approaches and are willing to wait very, very long.)

All that is left after dissecting the source link is this one video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCNRFiCb2sU www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCNRFiCb2sU Aaand this one finally works like it should.

Anyway, i like that gene :) Im fascinated by the optics of dumerils boas, these often have what looks like different patterns over each other and it fades between the different patterns, one pattern in some areas and the other pattern in other areas and then areas where it fades from one to the other. First time ive seen a picture of a really nice dumerils boa i was thinking: If only we could somehow get these optics in BPs! And now this atomic-gene could be it.

So, what could work with the gene? I would love to see something like atomic + pinstripe + mojave + pastel. So that if you only pick two of the genes, you get different patterns depending on which two you pick. It has pastave in there, and jigsaw, and lemonblast. Lots of food for the atomic gene to make funky paradoxes with.

but yes, depending on how many paradoxes this triggers, something like atomic super black pastel would also be very interesting. Super black pastel normally eliminates all pattern, will it still with atomic? I wonder what it does to recessives like albino (dark paradoxes showing up maybe?) or genetic stripe (stripe broken up by normal-patterned paradoxes maybe?). So many unknowns, i will definitively follow what happens with this gene.

If I'm ever going to shell out ridiculous money for a snake, it will be over the atomic gene. I'm really eager to see him start selling them. I wonder what they will start going for.

Well, let's just say if coral glow/bananas still go for $20k, and GHIs are $10k (male for both)... we're talking a seriously expensive snake for years to come.

not to mention.. it's simple recessive. which we all know hold their value much longer than co-doms.

I'm sure this gene will command a hefty price, but I've already seen bananas going for $4500 behind the scenes. There are WAY TO MANY of them available to ask even $10k for a male.....probably the most overproduced morph in the last 3 years. You will see a major price adjustment of many high end morphs this season. Multi-level marketing at its best. ;)

This is a very impressive mutation. Sounds like a lot of fun in the future with this.

The Atomic gene looks pretty awesome.

If people knew what the behind the scenes prices where on most morphs they would cry. If all the GHI's and Bananas/CG's where to become for sale the market/price on them would crash hard. There are a lot of them out there. Look how many people have Toffee/Candy stuff. They were just recently released.

In the thread from another forum someone linked to a couple pages ago, Mike Wilbanks said that he sold to one breeder that he knew would take great care of the project. He obviously did not mention prices. I am also curious what the price will be when the public can buy them :D

Not too many folks produce pure toffees or candys. I actually could only think of a handful of breeders. Toffinos would be different but very few breeders have breeder het toffee females to make toffees.

GHIs have been a strong project and I don't see behind the scene pricing with this mutation. It's simply been very strong.

With males making males, I'm not too crazy on the banana project, but it's a must have right?

I've seen GHI's sold for way less last year than what they are worth now to the public. We are talking "buddy" prices not public prices. Kind of how different posted prices can be compared to actual prices.

I might just have to get one from you next year then!

female breeder toffinos are just as good as het toffees.

het toffee to het toffee: 25% toffee, the rest possible hets
toffee to het toffee: 50% toffee, 50% het toffee

toffino to toffino: 25% toffee, 50% toffino, 25% albino
toffee to toffino: 50% toffee, 50% toffino

so i think people can and will use toffinos as vehicles to get to pure toffee. if you use het toffee or toffino doesnt really make a difference. Personal taste.

then i think GHI is just an awesome easy to work with very strong codominant.

about banana/ coral glow, i think the problem with the weird sex ratios is by now so well-understood that i would call it solved. Visual males are harder to produce than visual females, but people either just figured out a way to do it that works for them, or have a solid theory on how it works that works for them.

i think atomic has a better chance to hold its value than any of them, because its a simple recessive :) Toffee is also recessive, but you can use albinos to work with the gene a bit more easily and get into it with just a single het or a single toffino.
