2013 ChrisS field herping thread
I'm really looking forward to this season of field herping, so I thought I'd create a thread for photos of my finds this year.
Not too many yet but here is a start

The garter was not actually found by me, but a friend. But it's the first snake I know of found in my area so still pretty exciting.

That's cool! My daughter and I went for a walk yesterday and all we saw was a rabbit.

I wish I could find millipedes like that!
Cool finds!

Snake 1 is a brown snake and snake 2 is a worm snake.
Those millipedes are all over my parents backyard but I've never found them anywhere else in the area.

Aren't brown snakes venomous

No, the North American species referred to as the brown snake is non venomous. It is Storeria dekayi

If you ever want to trade or sell some of those millipedes, let me know! :)

Thanks man! That's only the 2nd canebrake I've ever found. But a good friend of mine has already found 15 this year in the same area I found this one, so I'm hoping I find at least a couple more this season. You don't have any copperheads where you are?
Re: 2013 ChrisS field herping thread
that lil baby copperhead is cute. Shame he was dead. I find a lot of those kinds of animals here too.

They say they are around here but I have never seen one.

No I didn't keep them, don't really have room for anything right now.
Re: 2013 ChrisS field herping thread

When my ex and I split I couldn't afford my rent so I had to move to my parents. So for right now my life exists in an 8'x8' room. Lol so quite honestly I have no room for much of anything.
Re: 2013 ChrisS field herping thread
Pics are great, keep 'em coming. :)
One of my neighbors told me there are copperheads by the creek behind my apartment, I'll have to go hiking one day and see what I can find. Doubt I'll see more than fish or cranes though.

Awesome! Take pics regardless and share them. And if you create a new thread make sure you pm me with a link to it.
