Did I get screwed?

Hi everyone,

I found an ad on another site for three different RHPs, 2 40 watts and a 80 watt. Emailed the guy and he also had a herpstat 2. He was willing to ship all four items for a total of 235. They are slightly used. I thought it was a great deal. Problem is since I paid Sunday night, I have received one email from him saying he would try to ship it all out on Monday. I am getting a little worried. I know it was maybe a too good to be true ad but now I am nervous. I have emailed him a few times since Sunday night. Nothing in return. Tonight I decided to email him stating that if I do not hear from him by tomorrow evening (8PM in Michigan time) then I will go through Paypal to get my money back. I find it just odd that he disappeared but I guess scammers do that.

Thoughts? Opinions? Did I get played? What should I do next?

Well, that doesn't sound promising.

I'd suggest filing a claim with Paypal at your timeline.
It seems more than fair, 4 days for a response...

Yeah. My gut is feeling like I got screwed. He seemed very nice and willing to help me. I understand if life got in the way but one email would be nice from him. He went from sending me an email every few hours to completely nothing after I paid him.

I guess its too good to be true deal. Damn it. We will see come tomorrow. I will keep everyone posted on how paypal deals with this and if he responds.

Was told to file an information claim through Paypal which got his attention immediately. Received an email fifteen minutes after sending it.

We shall see how this goes. I explained my side and am waiting on him. Just I was just overly worried (maybe?).

No you weren't jusy overly worried. When you pay out your money you deserve to get what you paid for, and if life gets in the way then an e-mail should certainly be sent to you no matter what.

Thank you! I maybe not out of the woods just yet though. I still have no tracking information. I doubt he has shipped any of it out yet. Kinda upset about that part. I paid on April 21st (Sunday) and nothing yet. Just bugs me.

I'm not sure the manufacture for the RHP's that are being sold so I used reptile basics for my math.

X2 40 watt RHP's = $129.98
x1 80 watt RHP = $84.99
Herptstat 2 = $195.00

Total = $409.97

If the sale is legitimate you saved approximately $174.97. (to me sounds too good to be true). Did the seller say why he as selling the products as such a discount? Based on the lack of communication I would contact PayPal and open a claim. Also depending on how the PayPal transaction was funded I would also dispute through your credit card/bank.

He stated he was down sizing his collection of boas into more racks. Everything is used slightly. I am thinking that is why he discounted it. I am also very nervous. It can be a 'too good to be true deal.'

I filed a claim for information with paypal. I wrote out everything I could in their statement box. I included dates as well. Basically from how I understood it through paypal, he has until the 29th to give me more information and send out my items or I will be forced to move it up for PayPal to decide to reimburse me or not. I have every email though along with the ad from a different site. I made sure to make copies of everything and save it all to my computer.

If it is a real deal, I am glad to be saving almost 200 bucks.

I really hope the deal is good, if so, you saved your self a pretty penny. To me, the audience for this particular scam seems relatively small compared to the other scams that are out there, so hopefully this is a good thing :) I hope all turns out well, keep us posted!

It has been a long few days but I WASN'T screwed over! I received everything like he promised. I have to set everything up and make sure they work but other than that true to his word. I was able to get a hold of him after the paypal sent him a claim so maybe he just forgot or did actually get busy like he had said. Either way I am truly happy. I just saved over $200.

By the way, I didn't think the herpstats where as small as they are. I never looked at the dimensions before but man they are tiny. Maybe as big as a cell phone. Shocked.

Let you all know if it all works after my snakes finish eating and I can set it all up.

Congrats glad to hear you did in fact receive the items you paid for. Fingers crossed that all are in good working condition, if so you got a good deal.

I will let you all know. I am trying to set up the RHP but noticed that the plug won't fit through the T10 AP cage hole. The plug comes apart or so I was told. Ideas?
