Snake positions

I was wondering how much you guys think about the position your snake is is photos. I was browsin WOBP and noticed...


I really don't like this pose-

But I love the curvy "s"ed up positions, I guess it gives more shape.

Do you pro photographers position your snakes certain ways to flatter the pattern etc?

Im just happy if they stay still for more than 5 seconds.

I usually don't have much luck trying to position them. One trick that does work okay is to let them crawl into a hide that you have sitting where you will take the pic. Let them get comfy and then pull off the hide and they're usually in a decent position for pic...

My method is to take about 5000 pictures and I'll eventually get a good one...and babies are sooo much easier to take pics of than adults...

That painting is amazing! Great work!

I love getting close up shots. I don't have the best camera, but I love getting pics of their faces.

Posing a snake? What's that...:rolleyes: Yeah, mine do as they please. I just take a million pictures as they go, and keep the good ones. I don't have a "favorite" pose. Just depends on each picture. I have favorite pictures of each snake.

That's what I do. Insert hide, let them crawl in, remove hide, and rapid fire with the camera. :D

I don't think I have a favorite pose. My favorite pose changes from subject to subject and tends to be the one where they stay still for two seconds and let me center them in the photo. :D

I find it difficult to position snakes when photographing. Usually I find its easiest with a helper. One snake wrangler and one with the camera ready.

Lots of lovely pics in this thread. I think it just proves that BPs are lovely no matter what pose they are in. I do agree with the OP that the tight perfect spiral isn't the best pose I've ever seen though.

They always look like they're peeking, I love that look in any ball pic :D

For seeing the pattern/color on snakes I prefer poses where I can get most of their body with some contrast in the background, which is mostly improvised rather than posed
